I came across a bit of history that wasn't highlighted in history class. Evidently, prior to the declaration, the Brits erected a statue of King George in New York.

On July 9, 1776, the colonists tore the statue down and carted it away to melt it down to make musket balls.

The story is pretty great, read more about it here:

In light of this historical event, I think we should start a new Independence Day tradition: we should exchange gift boxes of ammunition with our friends and loved ones.

I wonder how many grains of lead are in the average body.

Depends on if they have or have not pissed off a squad of grunts.

That sounds very American. Melt down the statue of the British king and then give it back a little at a time...fired out of a musket.

Maybe CCI is ahead of the curve on this new gift-giving idea...

It seems like I hear a lot of arguments on here about the benefits of traditional values. So out of tradition, I think we should keep giving the Chinese millions of dollars every year in exchange for fireworks. 'Merica.

I went with the tradition of making a cake. Happy Birthday, America!

Man, that pattern looks like a Spanish map of South America from the 1500s or something. Stunning.
