Auto Upholstery repair / Auto audio install

Does anyone here do upholstery repair or know of anyone that is decent priced? The driver seat on my tahoe has a tear in it and the foam is almost worn all the way down to the frame. I wouldn't gripe too much but I have a wide back so it doesn't fit between the side pads and I can feel the metal frame against my lats. Called Jerry's in Greeley and they said complete recover and foam repair for around $250.

I also remember reading some of you guys do audio installs for vehicle but cannot find the specific threads about it. Looking to add a few upgrades to the same truck.

Have you checked eBay for a replacement seat? I've seen them down in the $100 range before for various models.

Not sure what year your Tahoe is but you can easily do the install yourself with basic hand tools. I installed the stereo in my Suburban on my lunch break a couple of years ago. As long as you're just changing out the head unit it's pretty easy. It gets more complicated if you're doing things like wiring in steering wheel controls, putting in a rear view camera, changing speakers, etc.

Craigslist or junkyard seat for the cheap. $250.00 isn't out of line for an upholsterers time though.
+2 on Crutchfield, great instructions and their tech support is first rate. They can walk you through it step by step.

If I can find a decent one on Craig’s or flea bay, I’ll get it but the ones I’ve seen so far are $250+. Jerry’s isn’t bad priced but I figured I might be able to save a few bucks if someone does it on the side.

As far as the audio portion goes, it has a new head unit but a bad ground somewhere that I can’t find. I also wanted to see about installing a small sub in the back. Yes, crutchfield has been a great resource in the past.

If I really got off my ass, I could probably do both with enough time and effort.
