Give me a fucking break!
What in the royal blue fuck? You paint a crosswalk (that clearly does not meet DOT/MUTCD specifications) on a busy public street to cater to a political agenda using tax dollars.
Then it's the crime of the century when it has "tire marks" on it?
Boy, I bet that took hours and hours of diligent work by your finest dicks.
Clue #1- it's on the roadway surface.
Clue #2- this roadway surface is traveled by thousands of vehicles per day.
Clue #3- these vehicles that travel said roadway surface have tires on them.
Clue #4- those tires denoted above are constructed utilizing primarily rubber.
Clue #5- as the rubber of the tires is softer than the roadway surface it is a logical step to conclude that rubber will be deposited on the roadway surface.
Or
Somebody doesn't dig the agenda and lit them up in the crosswalk.
This state is so fucked.

Denver taxpayers will foot the bill for this one.
I think this is great!
Denver is saying a symbol of gay pride (did gays even ask for their own crosswalks) matters more than all the actual real world problems facing Denver.
Not that an actual gay person was harmed (for any reason) which would justify the expense. Just the symbol.
I would have thought a gay crosswalk would be into rubber play.

I don't see what the big deal is, I'm sure the frootloops leave plenty of skid marks of their own...
They should reach out to the solar road people for advice on how to not have a street get dirty.
I wonder if the officers investigating are just the gunshots in the force that get into trouble doing other dumb stuff.
To me it looks like a skid made from dual wheels, likely a truck. I would just review any cameras in the area where a truck may have slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a jay walking snow flake. And then track down the driver and ticket him for stopping.

Damn I miss Colorado,
Oh well, heading off to the grocery store soon to pick up some 30 round P-mags, they are on sale this weekend.
1st world problems.
Unattentive driver slammed on brake to avoid rear ending stopped vehicle in front of him. This now a hate crime to not rear end a stopped car.
Are they going to investigate every skid mark?
God forbid someone gets hits crossing on this non standard marking. Lawyers will make big bucks
Should have just burned a US flag. No one would investigate that.
How dare mere cisgendered humans walk, drive, or touch this monument to civility. Would a dog have to be gay in order to piss on the crosswalk?
Here are the DOT/MUCTD guidelines on art/colors in crosswalks:
https://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/resources/interpretations/3_09_24.htm
These crosswalks are clearly a violation of published standards.
The evolution of crosswalk treatments continued into the form of "crosswalk art" because it was becoming a common misconception that as long as the white transverse lines were present—thereby legally marking the crosswalk—then the agency was free to treat the interior portion of the crosswalk as it desired. In 2011, the FHWA issued an additional Official Ruling4 that crosswalk art—defined as any freeform design to draw attention to the crosswalk—would degrade the contrast of the white transverse lines against the composition of the pavement beneath it. In deviating from previous Official Rulings on the matter that concluded an increased factor of safety and decreased number of pedestrian deaths were not evident after installation, this 2011 Official Ruling stated that the use of crosswalk art is actually contrary to the goal of increased safety and most likely could be a contributing factor to a false sense of security for both motorists and pedestrians.
The FHWA's position has always been, and continues to be that subdued-colored aesthetic treatments between the legally marked transverse crosswalk lines are permissible provided that they are devoid of retroreflective properties and that they do not diminish the effectiveness of the legally required white transverse pavement markings used to establish the crosswalk. Examples of acceptable treatments include brick lattice patterns, paving bricks, paving stones, setts, cobbles, or other resources designed to simulate such paving. Acceptable colors for these materials would be red, rust, brown, burgundy, clay, tan or similar earth tone equivalents. All elements of pattern and color for these treatments are to be uniform, consistent, repetitive, and expected so as not to be a source of distraction. No element of the aesthetic interior treatment is to be random or unsystematic. No element of the aesthetic interior treatment can implement pictographs, symbols, multiple color arrangements, etc., or can otherwise attempt to communicate with any roadway user.
*Ring, Ring* "Hi Frank Azar, I'm about to take a walk... you busy today?"
Nearly every crosswalk in the city has some sort of tread mark on it. Is that paint even "traffic rated"? That painting and now the investigating of this is such a waste of resources. Let's post an officer on site to "patrol" it. Are we out of problems? I suppose the only thing left is to elect a modern "Caligula".

Yup, clear violation.
Only problem is the Fed DOT won't do shit about it, the Program Administrator for the Denver region is a former CDOT prick who is bedfellows with Denver, City and County of, Traffic who are all former CDOT babies.

Frankly, had the term "cross walk" not been used in the story I would have been hard pressed to identify that as an actual cross walk versus assuming it was some sort of rainbow/pro-LGBTWMOUSE artwork on the road.

Is it possible that the paint they used is more slippery than the pavement, resulting in the skid marks directly?
Oh, the irony.
Is it illegal to leave skid marks?
Does denver make you pay to remove skid marks?
If the answer is no to both of these, let's go make skid marks here.
It could easily be a problem with the paint they chose for their precious rainbow. No matter, the city has their priorities way out of skew if tire marks are more of a problem than what's become of Civic Center Park.

That's swell, the admin who ordered the investigation ought to be fired for gross misconduct in representing the actual needs of the community and misuse of taxpayer monies but they'll probably get a promotion instead.
Why does government feel compelled to cater to a group of people that represent less than 4% of the US population?
https://www.liveabout.com/gay-population-statistics-in-the-united-states-1410784
The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, a sexual orientation law and public policy think tank, estimates that 9 million (about 3.8%) of Americans identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (2011).
Old stat, but still.
I could not care LESS about gays or illegals or all the other 'special' people out there, but you know, they find ways to make me care even LESS and that's an accomplishment.

If I lived with a view of that cross walk, I would sue for a "normal" cross walk. If they want to paint something, paint those edges on the medians so you can actually see them. You know the ones when where you see the little old lady with the front of her car stuck on it. The ones where they post a sign, but somebody always runs over it and knocks down the sign. Maybe the insurance companies will lobby for this. Maybe even the police will endorse this.

Have you been on Broadway lately? It used to just be bad around Speer (river) but nearly all of it from downtown to I-25 is a skid row. The library isn't safe. The DAM is having issues with them. 24/7 "camping" in Civic Center. 16th St is a mess.
DPD lifts a finger to change any of that and we all know what happens.
No amount of gay paint on the ground is changing the negative perception Denver is earning for itself.
Same thing has happened to the other Lib shitties (San Francisco). The Libtarded leadership has no idea what it takes to run a city. They neglect the basic rights of citizens (economic, safety) and focus on elevating special people while blowing through financial resources in private/public partnerships that make certain people very wealthy.
There is nothing being reported in SF that we haven't seen in Denver the last couple of years. That is the future for Denver.

Seriously considering a move to Iowa. Mock me if you want. I'd prefer Idaho, but my wife's entire family is in IA and compromises have to be made. Good news is cheap real estate and awesome growing conditions for plants. I'm so tired of fighting nature trying to grow stuff up here. Bad news is heat and humidity. We'll see.

Being from Iowa, yes, the humidity and heat can be a bear sometimes, but I miss every bit of living back there. The only problem for me is that I have an SBR and Iowa currently doesn't allow them. Perhaps in the not too distant future that will change, but we'll see. The real estate is reasonable and it is a lot simpler living outside the city.

Well thank you guys. Most people I know are like, "People move out of Iowa, not to it!". LOL Most of those folks are from there so I know how it goes.
Sorry to derail OP :)
Drove over this crosswalk today, while moving to Iowa. Suddenly found myself checking out the mailman. Seriously, it's a skid from a semi dual. Even has some even chop to it like ABS was working overtime. Perhaps he stopped in hurry to avoid a bigger problem. I used to drive that stretch in a large truck when I worked downtown. Plenty of crazy traffic and people.
I'm curious about the age of people fleeing. Seems I know quite a few long time residents that are moving, or at least sniffing around. I know I'm looking around.

I plan to move ASAP, but my job will be the determining factor on how soon it actually is, a year is best case scenario. I'm 34 and will have a few locations available, but AZ is probably my first choice.

If I had a million dollars for a house, I'd buy one with a boat dock in the Florida Keys. Everyday I would wear flip flops and tees & shorts. Moor the Boston Whaler out the back door and scuba, fish, and hunt everyday. Every place else is insanity. WTF was I thinking moving here? Space Force?

This continues to be the most ridiculous thing I have seen in the news for some time. Nothing better illustrates gay fragility than choosing a monument to mark how they were arbitrarily "born that way" and getting bent when someone drives over it in a way they don't like.

In the right circumstances... if you were doing it on your own property, making tire marks on your own drive/parking lot- what could they do about it? The only difference is this is a public road, and the LGBTXYZPDQ's got permission to violate DOT code on a public roadway.
I personally don't see the appeal of a bunch of plain bars in different colors of the rainbow- but someone let them put it on a public street... they probably had to do it that way because they couldn't get the city to pay for it (unlike Austin or Denver, who not only paid for it but waste taxpayer dollars "protecting" it while crimes against other people's property are put aside due to manpower issues).
good point about the fragility, too... I wonder if they put these stoopid crossbows (or is it rainwalks?) just to illicit a reaction, like the Westboro Church of Lawyers.

This is even better. Lady reporter arrested for filming police activity on the street. She was released 10 minutes later with no charges. Seems like DPD has some unusual priorities. After watching all the incidents on the interwebz, I have added dashcams with gps metrics. You got to to film everything these days, just to protect yourself in court. Still tame compared to Miami...

That story has everything...
HIPAA covers treatment on a public sidewalk, in full view of the public
Videoing a public sidewalk is interference when the LEO has to walk down the sidewalk to confront
First Amendment doesn't supersede HIPAA
Journalists are special and can video things in public that the public can't while in public

Then why isn't she jailed? Why did the supervisor tell the arresting officer to release her?
HIPPA has nothing to do with what happens on the public streets and sidewalks. It has everything to do with doctors records and insurance companies.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_Insurance_Portability_and_Accountability_Ac t#Enforcement_Rule
If you are legally in a public location and you are not interfering with the police, anything you can see can be photographed or video recorded. If the police tell you to step back, take two steps back and ask if that is far enough. The police have no authority to stop public photography and in Colorado it is against the law for the police to interfere with or try to intimidate public photographers. This covers everyone, not just journalists.
If the police officer(s) is getting his/her ass handed to them while trying to control someone on the street, put your phone away and ask the officer if they would like your help. Sadly this is just not common sense anymore.
DPD just felt like giving away taxpayer money that day.
I've watched several of the "first amendment audit" videos on Youtube. They can be quite entertaining. I dont agree with the ones that go out and yell obseneties ar cops, but a lot of the "auditors" are peaceful.
Leon Valley TX is under federal lawsuit right now because the PD arrested several "journalists" over comments that OTHER PEOPLE made on their YouTube videos. (Police chief's home address)
