"On July 3 at approximately 3:30 p.m., two young male "billy" mountain goats, estimated to be between 1-2 years old, were shot and killed just over a half mile from the summit of Quandary Peak. The mountain goats were shot in the head with a pistol at close range."

That's pretty fuckin' low. Those goats were probably used to getting snacks from hikers and might have been friendly.

They are very comfortable around people, The baby's and billy's keep a little more distance but the females will come very close and they seem to have a fondness for apples.
Total dick who shot them, no reason for this and lets hope someone turns them in.

That sucks.

I have never been on a high elevation hike where the goats were more than just white specks across the valley. The weather on my Quandary hike was rather pear-shaped, so no goats were out.

What is surprising to me is that such a shooting could occur on a very popular mountain. It would have to be really early or really late to not attract immediate attention.

While this makes me sad that some humans are so cruel, it makes me wonder WTF is going on in these humans heads. It's not a challenge, it's not for food, it can't be rewarding in any way....oh yeah, unless you're a psychopath.
