Strawberries and cherries are selling for very low prices- Sprouts has Northwest sweet red cherries for less than $1 per pound; Kings has strawberries at 2 lbs for $1.99.
Now's the time to start preserving, if you haven't begun already. My dehydrator has been going all day, every day.

Bed Bath & Beyond sells cherry pitters that will pit 6 cherries at a time. BB&B also sends out 20% off one item coupons very often; those pitters are a $15 investment you won't regret.

Sprouts also has Roma tomatoes on sale, 2lbs/$1. Buy a case for $12.50, wash them, dig out the cores, and dump them into an electric turkey roaster at 325 for 8 to 10 hours. Turn off the roaster, scrape down the sides. Grab a hand blender and blend them right in the roaster; most of the skins will have broken down by then. Stick the roasted tomato sauce into canning jars and process. Voila!

You could even get really fancy and toss in peppers and/or onions while they're roasting.

Supposed to be a big year for cherries up here. Between a good season and the tariffs by China, they're selling really cheap.

Picked up that cherry pitter from BB&B along with three hand press styles. The hand press is faster given the setup involved with the six cherry pitter, but works as advertised.

We definitely have more cherries than last year, but they are a little smaller than normal.

Yea I've noticed the cheap berries, doesnt hurt my feelings because I love fruit and usually can only afford to get a little at a time. Thanks for the tip on the peppers Grey I'll be doing that soon!
