View Full Version : Not a suprise, latest do good employee fired. Gun related.
I agree with others, that preventing a gun into the criminal community has some higher benefits than merely trying to go hero preventing a 6 pack from going out the door. This thugs description near the end is also pretty concerning. Same day other gun thefts, stating when I'm released I will steal guns again, when caught threatening to shoot people etc.

Seems like a bad decision if you ask me. Seems like physically confronting a bad guy trying to flee the premises only increases the likelihood of putting yourself or the customers in jeopardy. Especially if you knew that the guy had a firearm. Can’t really fault the store for firing him if he broke some policy about confronting shoplifters.
Come into my house and try stealing my personal property.... game on.
Come to my place of employment and steal some stuff that doesn’t belong to me and is likely insured.... have a nice day. We’ll give the police a good description along with any video we have.
Given he watched him grab it, kinda knew it wasnt loaded. Sure he might be armed, but my personal feeling is Id want to stop weapons getting into the wild. Anything else ya, whatever.
Especially given that it sounds like this guy had a good chance of hurting someone later.

Shouldn't this go federal?
Yup, more than just a simple theft...
White admitted to stealing the gun and threatened to shoot people with it, according to court records. Those documents indicate those threats but do not mention threats to kill police officers as Crouch’s attorney claims.
Guy might have stopped a LEO murder or a mass shooting.
I agree with others, simple theft of store merch means I stay out of it. But that element of threatening to murder people changes my mind. Theft of a firearm always ups the ante IMHO. Stores should have policies that consider their civil liability for letting a thief just walk out with a gun.

People seem to be saddened by people standing around watching people be victimized. He stepped in and acted like a responsible member of society. No crystal ball will tell us where this gun could have ended up. Good for him and his grown up ideals.

Well I wish I shopped at Academy sports so I could boycott them and never set foot in one again :p
I carried against store policy at an auto parts retailer. Sorry, too many freaks to not be armed. I wouldn't defend the store though.

Glad he got his job back. I do wonder why the did the right thing. Would they have done it without outcry? BassPro looks fantastic in this. Lot of good free PR. Either way nice to see pressure for a good cause.

If I was him I'd take my job back until I could find something else.
