They are saying the new VA Medical Center ER in Aurora will open August 4. Probably would be best to call them on the phone if you go to the VA for emergency care. The new facility is near where the old Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center used to be. Closest address I can give is East Colfax and Fitzsimmons Parkway. I hope this helps some members that use the VA for medical care.

And it was so poorly designed, they have to keep the old VA that it was to replace open. Pathetic federal government bureaucracy.

Saw an interview with Congressman Coffman on Channel 9 last night.
Old hospital to remain open 3 more years minimum. The facilities can't accommodate veterans in wheel chairs or having difficulty walking due to distances between services, so they may provide electric golf cart type vehicles.
A lot of unanswered questions from Congress to the VA and they have to go in front of his committee to get more funding to try to resolve any problems.
A continuing "clusterf***"" with no concrete answers.

Why does the VA even have facilities instead of just paying for care where a veteran lives?

What did you expect ? At only over a Billion $$$$$$ overbudget, did you expect perfection ?

i wonder if they have any of those $10,000 toilet seats that the Air Force has on their super cargo planes ? I think it was the C-5 Galaxy That was recently in the news.

The VA does have that. It is called Veterans Choice.

People may not qualify for it. People may choose not to use it. It is available. Veterans don’t even half to use Denver VA. They can choose Cheyenne VA with clinics at Loveland and Fort Collins.

Just a few years ago while I was still a volunteer van driver hauling patients for the DAV, from Raton to Albuquerque VA, many had previously used the medical services of the Denver VA and those that had used that service almost always said that they certainly preferred the Albuquerque VA medical facilities over the Denver VA. Most wouldn’t elaborate over the differences.
