View Full Version : Problem with magpul drum.
Have a magpul drum I finally went to load for the first time ever after it sitting for 6 months. Loading lever seems way tougher than you would expect, near the end I was just about breaking a sweat from it. And I was only able to get 50 not 60 rounds in it. Any idea's on what might be wrong with it? At 50 rounds, I can get the lever all the way over, but it doesn't create enough room for another round.
Have you tried seeing if your spring is binding on something possibly around the body of the drum or even the follower?
I've never opened one up, heck I think the instructions try to advice you not to? Dunno was first attempt and I figured I'd shoot it and see if it did fine. I had tried stripping a couple rounds out and reloading near the end which seemed fine, not too much pressure to load into the gun I don't think. Sitting with my gear bag at my parents who are taking it to salida while I commute up to a funeral on my bike. Figured I'd go to the free outdoor range there to zero a couple scopes and give the drum a try.
Work out more often?

More like grip trainer. But I wasnt being literal. At the end I still am able yo move the crank the full length of motion, it just stops seeming to advance rounds and deeper

Yes, magpul CS said this also. In the course of fighting it, I was giving at least 3-4 cranks and not getting a round in.
Took it to the range and it was feeding ok at least. My range bag at my parents though who shuttled it up to Salida while I took my bike, so need to get it back some weekend before I can fiddle w/ it more.
