Just found out yesterday my sweetheart was diagnosed with MS. She should be coming home from the hospital soon (hopefully). She's been having issues walking without assistance over the past month and took a spill at home on Sunday. She's a stubborn redhead and finally took the symptoms seriously. We were desperately hoping it was a slipped disk or pinched nerve in the back. Definitely some life changes coming soon. She's a good woman with a big heart. She is stubborn and determined to not let this defeat her. I know it's not in her blood to give up easy. This is all uncharted waters for me, so I'm trying to learn fast on things to come. Prayers for her is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and I wish you all the very best.

Sorry to hear, it is a nasty disease and presents itself in soo many different ways. My mother inlaw has had the disease for 20 or so years and is confined to a wheelchair with just use of her right hand. I have seen others with it just as long who you would hardly know they have it. Get in touch with the Colorado MS Society ( https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/COC ), they are a wealth of information and have many resources available to help you guys out.

I have a friend that is a former colleague, now married to another colleague. When she quit working at my location a few years ago she was in great health. Within months of leaving she noticed significant health issues - like difficulty walking. She, too, was diagnosed with MS. It was a shock seeing a once vibrant young lady walking unsteadily with the assistance of a cane. She has good days and bad but just lost her job because her company decided she'd been on convalescence long enough. It's been tough and the illness has required significant changes in how she goes about her daily life.

One of the first things your sweetheart needs to do is get her doctor to assist in getting her set up with a handicap placard/plate. Even short walks become exceptionally difficult rather quickly. It gets worse as the disease progresses.

Just read this and was sorry to see it. There are some good things happening in the field of MS, including some pretty good therapies. A friend's wife has it and has been symptom free for several years.

Sorry to hear. A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with MS after about 10 years of not knowing and mystery symptoms. It was bittersweet to know finally but a gut punch all at the same time. I'm sure you can relate somewhat.

It sounds like she's got the right attitude to take this on though. These things are stubborn and it takes a strong will to meet force with force which is sounds like she has in spades. It will become her greatest asset moving forward.

Thank you all so very much. My sweetheart was moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center. Gonna have to make some improvements on the house to help her get around. Not sure when she will be able to come home. Hopefully soon.
