View Full Version : Multiple purchase flag rant
Went to a shop to pick up a handgun I had on consignment (sellers remorse lol) knowing full well I had to do the cbi check and fill out the 4473-a pisser but I get it. Well I spotted another handgun that was too good a deal to pass so I said I wanted it. Totally forgot about the multiple handgun purchase bullshit, didn’t realize it until the guys brought out the federal form they have to fill out. All this after the deal was done and paid for. I easily could’ve left my consignment piece another week or two, damn now I’m flagged.
The .gov already knows plenty about me just through being a hard working shmuck, property owner and tax payer. Let alone a legal gun owner/purchaser. We joked I could’ve bought a bunch of longarms (the things bad/crazy people have sadly used in multiple horrible events) without a whisper. Not that we should have to do that either aarrgghh!!
One was a .22 target revolver, the other another revolver in .357 mag (my consigned). I’m sure in the grand scheme of things it’s not much to worry about but it just pisses me off. Not pissed at the shop, though I did say it would’ve been nice to be notified prior to the deal. It’s my own fault especially when I asked about this topic a fairly short time ago right here!! Hey I blame it on just spending 4 days in the hospital. Ugh.

I thought you were going to be upset at not getting a small discount on your bulk flag order.
ETA: The way to fight stuff like this, is to do MORE of it, not less. Bank has to notify if you deposit cash? Big deal. If everyone is doing it, then the data becomes meaningless meta data. If it's not illegal, it's not illegal.
Sounds similar to my experience the first time I had to fill out the Gillette Razor Blade form! ;)

I quite enjoy doing just about anything legal that sets off a flag somewhere in a government office.

I think I need to adopt your attitude!

This is my approach on BS laws too. If I want a gun, I buy a gun. If I want two handguns, I buy two handguns. If I want 13 rifles... Well, you get the point. I've been "flagged" so much they probably don't even pay attention anymore.
Thanks for putting it in perspective guys, I’m back off the ledge [panic][Coffee]

Remember; If you take this s*** serious and allow it to prevent you from buying the firearms you want... They win.

If it makes you feel any better I was still getting calls from the ATF Tracing Center to find out who I'd sold guns to almost 5 years AFTER I closed my shop and sent my records to the out-of-business center.
Did you tell them that you sold them all to Doc45?

It's the opposite down here. 2-3 hanguns, no problem. BUT............................ buy 2 AR's AK's or receivers for either and you have the privilege of having a form filled out notifying the ATF of your multiple purchase. Thanks to being a border state.
That's why i pondered bulk buying stripped lowers before relocating. Then said, nawwwwwwwwww. So i'll buy another mill. after i figure which way i'm going for a garage ;)

Now you owe me a new keyboard!!! That was outstanding, thank you! I was just too cranky from no sleep, being poked and prodded at the hospital. See how I celebrated getting out! [Beer]

As long as you didn't also buy some Sudafed on the same day, you'll be fine.
