"VF Corp, the holding company for popular outdoor brands such as The North Face, JanSport and Smartwool, announced Monday it will move its global headquarters to Denver, bringing 800 high-paying jobs ..."
This will do nothing more than continue to shift demographics farther to the left. I fail to see how 800 jobs paying an average of $180,000 will do anything other than continue to drive housing cost up.
Welcome to the Silicon Mountains.
Maybe they'll be hunters?

Yeah, the Californication is almost complete. [beatdeadhorse]
Maybe they'll be hunters?
Yeah, hunting for their identity. :)
I don't care much for NorthFace or JanSport, but my experience with SmartWool socks and base layers has been nothing short of excellent.
An average of $180K across 800 jobs seems exceptionally high to me... I guess what i already thought about overpaying for those products is true though....
I couldn't read the article because I'm not a DP subscriber. It's not like they're importing 800 people though. I'd guess a majority of the folks they're hiring already live here, don't think they'll suddenly become transformed into different, more douchey, people after taking the job. $180k a year does seem like a high average but it's their HQ and I assume there are some pretty high level execs in that bunch. Guess it doesn't hurt to apply to one of those jobs though if they're really paying that much. My overall feelings about it add up to a tepid MEH.

According to the above article, it isn't the outdoorsy types we should be worried about. It's the museum and theater goers.

Srsly, would it be better if those jobs came to the Springs or Pueblo, instead of Denver? At least D is already a leftist shithole, maybe the extra money will help to support more normal small folks further down the food chain.
@Gman, "Silicon Mountain" used to be the Springs, thanks to Intel, Atmel, Symbios, etc - but it turns out no Americans, anywhere, can compete with overseas offshored outsourced labor costs.
And I don't even live over there.
Don't worry. They will happily take your tax money and spend it on this side of the divide..
I still don't think this means that Denver is suddenly going to get 800 new residents. I'd guess more than 700 of the jobs they fill will be from candidates that already live here.
Surprisingly, there are some conservatives executives working at a company which promotes liberal ideas and vice versa.
For an example, the executive personally believe in smaller government, lower income taxes, etc.
However, in terms of corporate idea, he/she wants more regulations so that other companies would dare not to enter the market.
Pharmaceuticals and Bank sector would be a good examples.
Of course the damn FOUNDER OF THE COMPANY who is also in upper management have luxury to promote their own personal beliefs.
Not a lot of hired executives can.
