We picked up Sparky today from Big Bones Canine Rescue (https://www.bigbonescaninerescue.com/). He's a Yellow Lab, born April 1st and cool as hell. He won't leave my side right now.

We'll pick up another Yellow Lab, Donovan, in a few weeks after he's fixed and all healed up. He's a few weeks younger.

Huge shout out to Big Bones (https://www.bigbonescaninerescue.com/). These folks were top notch and a pleasure to work with.

Congrats!

He's a cute little bugger.

Every time I see one of these threads, I want to go find a dog, but I just don't have the time to make it fair for a dog.

Congrats!
My kiddo saw a huge st bernard inside the moving vehicle today near 120th and Federal, and she wants a St Bernard now. lol

Nice looking pup. Nothing quite like the love of a faithful friend.

Was that outfit a suggestion you got off of here? I remember you said you didn't want a black dog, but only had guesses as to why. I figured with you being in the mountains, you didn't want to ever confuse it with a bear.

Did he come with any training? He looks very laid back for how young he is. I couldn't get our dog to hold still when we first brought her home.

A coworker used Big Bones and his wife ended up volunteering for them. I hooked up with them, got all verified as an acceptable adopter and they kept me posted when new dogs came in so I'd be first to check them out. Pretty cool.

My wife just doesn't like black dogs for some odd reason. All of my dogs have been goldens or yellow labs, so I was cool with that.

No training. I've been preparing myself, wife and the kids for the mayhem of a new puppy in the house, but I'm impressed with how chill he was when he first got here. We'll see how he does tomorrow. He's sleeping on the couch next to me right now. I'd say he's pretty relaxed.

Congrats! I have a yellow myself and even though he may not be the smartest, I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Awesome doggo! Looks like he's at home & fairly adjusted already. So glad you rescued instead of shopping for what it's worth. Just another example of an amazing companion that can be had via adoption/rescue.

FYI I would be hesitant to adopt a black dog again because it makes things a little bit dicier for walking/jogging and outdoor activities. When we had a white and a black dog of the same age, size & type it was crazy how much faster the black one would get than the white one. You could actually feel the difference with your hand and it was quite drastic. It also ended walks and outdoor sunny activities much sooner as a result.

I know black dogs matter too but I can see that possibly being a solid reason for some not wanting to adopt them which is unfortunate but it sure beats getting one and then subjecting it to potentially dangerous conditions all the time due to not knowing.

Dogs are pitiful leeches that have negatively influenced, and stained, mans progress for millennia.

This one just might be an exception. Right ear massage please!

Way kewl GG!! [Awesom] Looks like winners all the way around.

Not to nit-pick but $
350 sounds a little rich for a rescue.

I was pretty amazed when I started looking around. Most were $300+ but all medical stuff is done: shots for everything for the age, microchip, fixed, etc. I'm not complaining.

I got my last dog 20 years ago and it was basically "Oh! You want a dog? Yay - he's yours!" Things have changed I guess.

To be fair, I was looking for a pretty specific breed. If I wasn't so picky, maybe I could have gotten off cheaper.
