Older 1960's vintage Kahles had a European Claw mount set up.
I have taken the rings off the scope and there is some sort of sealant or glue under the rings to hold the scope from moving.
Have tried Alcohol, Acetone and a bit of Lacquer remover. Nothing is dissolving the glue. it will chip off with a bit of work.
Anybody have a clue what this stuff might be and how to remove it without risk of messing up the scope?

Kroil or ATF.

Soaked it overnight without results.
Untouchable stuff was Epoxy. Called a shop that makes Claw Mounts and rings. Germans were anal about using epoxy to keep rings and scope together. Found out they even used epoxy to mount the scope mounts to the receiver.
Lowes had some stuff made to remove epoxy and it worked. Happily the steel tube and blueing survived.

Well, what's the stuff you bought?
