I'm getting serious about being a member of an indoor range. I'm the type that if I pay I'm way more likely to get my money's worth and go several times a month vs pay 1 time sort of deal. All of these are 20ish minutes from me, have 100 yard rifle and have reasonable reviews. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of comparing them? Liberty has a lot of lanes but their initiation fee is pretty intense, as is triggertimes. Blucore is cheaper but not huge and is in a more urban area meaning may be it would fill up faster?

I just want to know what you drive that you are 20 minutes from LFI and Bluecore. :)

I really like LFI and the Simulator, loaner Chrono are some good benefits.

It might be more like 25 minutes but I'm literally half way between them

I'm a member at Blucore for the past couple of years. I work 12 minutes away so I can run over on my lunch and shoot and it's never full during the day. Does fill up in the evenings. But as a member, you can reserve a lane the day before and you're good for that hour.

You can also show the range staff you can draw safely and they will take the shelf down and let you draw from a standard hip holster.

With membership you get frequent discounts on their classes too. I have taken a handfull of their classes and they are fine. There are store discounts, but they are small and the store seems high priced to me.

There's also Bristlecone in that area too. Looks nice. I've been in there once. They have a simulator, classes, a member's lounge, gun storage lockers, and a decent sized shop.

This. I do the drive from Erie to South Denver every day. That drive will suck if you're not in the middle of the day or a weekend.

Sure if you hit traffic. I type it into maps and it says 28 to liberty and 27 to blucore with ok traffic. I have random weekdays off and can drive during non rush hour times

They don't have a 100 yard rifle though do they?

They do not.

It's not a deal breaker but a nice feature

Online reservation for lanes is a nice feature. I imagine demand for lanes will increase over the winter months but I've no trouble getting a lane on the weekdays, day or eve.

New rubber berm/trap seems to be good, it seems quieter (not that I thought it particularly loud before) & the staff have never been anything but helpful & pleasant. FWIW the staff were never curt & made the time to answer my many, many questions when I first joined.

If you're going to spend time on the rifle range, bring decent magnification in some form (I only have red dot on my rifle). You'll appreciate not having to pull your target back to check your work. It's not that the carriages are particularly slow, they're just not silly fast either. Also unless you have a range finder, distances are approximate & subject to your guestimate based off a few, let's say 'landmarks' (Unless there's some secret marker I'm not seeing).

I've never been to another indoor 100 so unfortunately I can't offer a comparison there, but compaired to other pistol (rifles allowed) ranges, I liked Blucore best when I shopped around, still do & why I'll be staying a member.

I'm new to the sport so I'm still learning what's important to me about a facility. I'm also currently shopping for an ancillary range & unfortunately most 300+ outdoor ranges don't have the option to try before you buy (or waitlist) & it is indeed a hassle. Accordingly, ...

My best advice is renting a rifle lane (because you can) before you decide, but perhaps ask a manager ahead of time if they'd consider applying the rental fee towards your initiation fee if you become a member when you're done trying them out. I don't know what they'll say but they can't say yes if you don't ask.

I never thought to inquire if I'm allowed to have a guest (reduced fee/pass), if that's a member perk, let's use it & you can go with me if you'd like to check it out firsthand.

The guys from TriggerTime are good people. I know the owner and the GM and they are honest and the range is beautiful. They take good care of their members. I would visit and talk to them.

Their gunsmith is also a stud :)

I can't agree with this more. When I lived up that way I was a member there for many years. They are great people, I never once had difficulty getting range time. It really was a shame when I moved down south and had to let my membership expire.

That's one of the nice things I saw when I visited LFI. On the rifle lanes, they have target cameras and a monitor at the bench.

I don't shoot much rifle at all, so this may be standard for all ranges, but at Bluecore, the signage says you need to be sitting when using the rifle range. I don't know if they RO's enforce that, but I never saw anyone standing. You can shoot rifles any way you like on the pistol ranges. They do have some foam rests and leather sandbags for you to use.

Also the pistol ranges are only 17.5 yards, not 25 if that's important to you too. They do have motorized, programmable target carriers on the pistol lanes though.

That's good to know. I've never been there. I will go check them out one weekend.

Fancy & probably a treat. Less time retrieving targets, yay.

I wonder how often they loose a camera to um....let's call it, attrition? LOL

Just to add my .02...

I used to have a membership at Blucore and always had a good experience there:

-- About the best pricing I've seen anywhere around, particularly if you can take advantage of the Patriot membership deal.

-- Ranges are nice and don't recall ever having an excessively long wait time

-- Rifle ranges are sit-down only, but they have left and right handed benches

-- Never got yelled at by any range nazis

-- Very friendly range staff. I've even been able to do some reasonable-level tuning work in real-time which has been immensely helpful during colder months (e.g. tucked away in an end-stall with toolset and incrementally drilling/testing gas block plates for operation tuning, etc.)

Haven't shot at either LFI or TriggerTime...

I was a member of Triggertime for 3 years and never had any major complaints, besides the lack of real RSO's (getting flagged by some 80 yr old guy in a wife beater multiple times will raise your blood pressure a few points) and about 5 times in a row the lane I was assigned had a target carrier with a dead battery. I live north of Longmont so I was excited to hear about LFI and I took the tour right after it opened. I balked at the high initiation fee for almost a year until I saw them run a cancellation special (prove I canceled my TTGC membership) and they dropped the initiation fee to $100. Too good to pass up. I enjoy the indoor steel range and the air systems. I don't think I've ever smelled gun fire in there, even on a range with muzzle-loaders. Just my two cents. I know several people that are waiting for them to run another cancellation special, and I kind of feel like it's only a matter of time before Front Range closes up shop and sends everyone to LFI as well.

Hey man, I'm in Lafayette, been to BluCore a few times, but not a member. I used to work in Denver too, off of Sante Fe. At 5AM, it usually took me 30mins, after work in the afternoon 1-2hrs lol
