This is a bit of a troll post. Warning! Post might be too salty/spicy for some, if you get Forest Whitaker eye after reading, take an Ambien with a glass of warm milk.

It’s been fixed, I didn’t write it, it was screenshots taken from a website, ended up cropping two of them that included number 13. But that’s what happens when you do it at three in the morning with no sleep!

Nicely done.

Full disclosure: I was an early contributor to TTAG and wrote a bunch of articles for them. Even met with RF and went shooting with him.

And I have to agree that it's pretty much turned into a trainwreck. I do sometimes read it for pure entertainment but I stopped returning RF's phone calls a few years ago.

Very interesting guy but he's a little too deep down the rabbit hole for me.

I point a loaded P239 .40SW at my dick on a regular basis.

If I ND, I won't want to live, and I probably wouldn't live long anyway (femoral artery).

I probably wouldn't AIWB unless it is a P series Sig I've run through the paces.

Fact. The problem once upon a time is that guys would justify their usage of a particular pistol cartridge larger than .380ACP due to stopping power, now the pendulum has over-swung to where if you’re NOT using 9x19 there must be something missing from your families Gene pool. They all suck, if your stocked up on, or issued .40/.45/.357 Sig etc, Rock on.

I don’t point upholstered guns at my junk however, intelligent use of intelligently designed AIWB carry options largely prevent that from being a problem.

It's missing #16: Writing gimmicky click-bait like this list.

ETA: *Foxtrot removes his 45ACP XD from it's Serpa holster with a 3% sticker, and rubs the engraved Punisher logo on the slide as he looks at his competition accolades and mutters how he could totally take out five cardboard assailants if they jumped him right now, especially with his 45ACP shotshell rounds purposed to avoid over penetration*

Ok. You just won the Internet for the day.

Based in the context of this thread, this definitely ranks in the top five posts ever made here.

Thanks.

Been carrying AIWB with one in the chamber pointed at my junk for about 7 years now- and it still works (well, it fires blanks now- but that's not related to AIWB in any way)

I'll point out the III% thing and maybe the punisher thing are stereotyping... I'll leave it in my tag line because of the context I have for it. And I DGAF what this guy thinks of me for it. :D

I think lasers are stupid in every situation...
But maybe that's just from seeing guys use them at the range. They stand there and carefully line up their laser, jerk the shit out of the trigger while anticipating recoil, and hit somewhere around 2 feet from their point of aim. And repeat the process. Eventually they bring their target back in and sort of wave it around to make sure everyone can see how they actually hit paper most of time.
That's the sort of thing that prevents me from actually purchasing and trying a laser.

I wouldn't blame all that on the laser... just bad trigger fundamentals.
I've got a laser on my daily carry- but don't use it to aim in training. (it does have an off switch) unless i'm doing dry fire to make sure I'm not jerking the gun around as you describe. I have also tried using it to aim when I can't get a sight picture (around an obstruction, for example), and it's useful in that capacity- even though that's a pretty unlikely scenario.

FWIW, I prefer shooting my 1911A1 and my .357 S&W snubbie because they feel good when shooting and I shoot more accurately with them than with my Beretta 92 or M&P. If you want to get into caliber wars, just remember that our country's history was very nearly changed for the worse on March 30, 1981 with a .22LR revolver.

Last time I was in the rifle range, there were some nice young men playing with their laser. Several times while I was shooting, the laser would cross & pause on my target. (Which was actually odd because most of the time you'd have guessed one or both of them had Parkinson's by how much it wobbled around their own target & I thought it showed on paper) IDK if that counts here but I was a bit annoyed at the time.

I don't think most people should listen to my opinions on firearms anyway. I am pretty much a "more is better" and "there's no real reason NOT to own two..." sort of guy.

I notice my coworkers only bring up a firearm when they are looking for someone to talk them into the purchase.

You might be surprised how much deviation there is on target vs perceived at the weapon, if you tried a laser out.

Rimfire’s are not a viable option as a defensive caliber in semi automatics due to the nature of inherently unreliable primer ignition with them. Also .22’s are lacking in other areas, namely terminal performance, can they stop someone? Yes, so could a pellet gun, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it’s probably not something you want to rely on though.

Psychological stops are not something that can be relied on, and performance on/in targets with a .22 LR/Magnum is nothing to write home about, do I want to get shot with one? No, but that’s a straw man argument.

I did say I prefer my 1911A1 or .357 S&W but did you just completely miss the point? Yeah I though a while back the 22lr was the winner, mostly because of things like targeted killings using a 22 to the back of the head. Mafia, etc... or maybe that's just urban legend.

I guess I didn’t , sometimes subtleties don’t read well. I’m pretty sure you weren’t saying that
.22 is fine as a defensive caliber because Ronald Reagan almost died after being shot with one.

.22 usually works better when playing offense...when you can pick the situation and terms of the engagement. But that could also be said of any caliber.

The Reagan shooting was one of those oddities that make most people scratch their heads and say hmmmm. Brady got hit above his left eye and the bullet shattered into multiple fragments which lodged in his brain. Brady lived 33 years before dying due to complications caused by the gunshot. Delahanty and McCarthy were both gut shot and both made full recoveries even though Delahanty took a disability retirement from MPDC. He is still alive living in PA. McCarthy returned to full duty and became the Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Secret Service field office. He retired in 91 and became the Chief of Police in a small town in Illinois outside of Chicago.

President Reagan was hit by a bullet that ricocheted off the armored limo and went through the gap between the body of the limo and the door. Agent Jerry Parr was pushing the President into the limo when he was hit by the ricochet. There is no certain way of knowing but had the bullet been jacketed or moving faster it probably would have punctured the steel skin of the limo and been deflected by the plate underneath. If Parr had been slower to react, the ricochet would’ve likely passed through the gap prior to the President being shoved into the limo. No one can predict with 100% accuracy what could have happened. All we know is what did happen.

If you have the choice between a .22lr or just about any other caliber, I would choose something else.

Be safe.
