I did a 3 Gun Boot Camp with Lannie and Tracy Barnes. So totally awesome. I need to upgrade my shotgun. I'm looking at a Mossberg 930 semi auto, 22" barrel. Thoughts?

I went to a 3 gun shoot a while back that had 3 people running 930 JM Pro shotguns in my squad. Every single one of them had problems on most shotguns stages. I suspect it may have had to do with using cheap bulk pack shells, but who knows.
PS - For the record, I ran a borrowed M4 and cheap bulk pack shells without a single issue. Yes, completely different class of shotgun, but just shows that there are semi autos that can run lower power 12ga without problems.
If you ask around the 3gun circles you will not find much positive about the JM. The top of the line is the M2, I am happy with my Berreta 1301 and my son runs a Stoeger. I think the Steiger was the most economical and it runs great after minimal tweaks.

Any shooting with the Barnes sounds fun and very educational. I think either one of them could do extremely well with any firearm they were handed. In the original post you don't mention what gun or ammunition you were shooting. Before laying down money on another gun I'd make sure it was the gun that needed changing.

This.
What do you have now?
As mentioned, the Benelli M2 is one of the most popular for the 3gun world. It also has a tremendous aftermarket following.

If you do not care about which class, a Saiga is a fun way to go. Mag or drum fed. And no zebra stripes. LOL

The Brian Enos forum is a good resource.

There is a reason they are called the JaM Pro. Please do yourself a favor and get something else, even if it means having to wait to save up enough. Benelli M2, in my mind, is the top choice. Other acceptable choices are the Breda, Franchi, and the Stoeger. Gas guns, while soft shooting, need a lot more maintenance, and most seem to have problems eventually.
I just ordered the Stoeger M3000 based upon its positive reviews on Benos from the 3Gun guys who didn’t quite want to drop the coin on an M2. There are many aftermarket parts available for the M3000 and some Benelli parts even interchange. The Stoeger is 1/2 the price of the Benelli.

I didn't have any problems with ammo. I was using a pump and most everyone else had a semi auto. My shotgun only holds 4 shells.

I'm with the rest of the folks, run what you have until it starts stopping you or breaks. Pump with 4 is not seksy, but who cares?
Of course its up to you. Are you doing this for fun and skills or do you want to become #1?
Guns I have run in 3 gun for fun. FAL para, SKS, revolver, pump with 5 round cap with #6 shot and full power slugs.
Funnest setup ever was an old dude with a Garand who had a small bag filled with his clips. He did not win the stage on time, but everyone tgought he took that stage.

NO! The Mossbergs are not suitable for 3Gun. A pump is literally better, add a $50 extension.
There are a handful of shotguns suitable for 3Gun...All release the shell on the trigger pull instead of the bolt cycle, which is what is needed for the reliability with a long stack of shells in the tube. M2, M3000, M3K, Affinity, Breda, 1301, V3, in that order. All will need a little bit of work.
I run an M2, but my boys both run (and prefer) the M3000 shotguns. Put a Carbon Arms tube on a M3K and you are as cheap and close to ready as there is on the market. You can get both from Wes at Liberty Firearms in Loveland. http://www.carbonarms.us/carbon-arms-m3ktube-9-to-12-rounds.html https://www.stoegerindustries.com/m3k-3-gun-shotgun
Don't go spending a lot of money before you start shooting matches. If you can get an extension for your current gun that's a great move. You might be surprised how much fun you have without spending a fortune. Also if you get out there with a friendly attitude there's a lot of cool people who will be happy to let you try out all sorts of gear so you can make an informed decision.
