Just a reminder, take your weapons inside with you and don't leave them in your vehicle. About five years ago, I removed my CCW from the center console after returning home from the grocery store. After getting my hands full, I did not feel safe trying to carry my CCW and the grocery bags at the same time so placed it back in the center to console to carry in the groceries. After unloading, I forgot about it and left it in the truck overnight and the next morning, it was gone. Some ass hat broke into my truck, stole my mini BOB bag and my CCW. That was about six years ago and it still pisses me off. I am hopeful that one day it gets returned to me but like I said, that was six years ago... be smart and don't be a jackass like me.

I'm not a sticker guy in the first place but that's one reason I don't like the idea of putting firearm related stickers on a car.

Over 500 cars & trucks have been stolen in Pueblo since June. That puts it in the ranking of the top 20 cities in the US for auto theft. Pueblo West has the same problem. Consider that when you come to our range. Or visit our area. Sleeping at night is a 3 gun match...

Saw the tv news making a big promotion of the Denver Police reporting the number of guns stolen from cars in the past year.
But, as I recall from my Concealed Carry class, the number one place recommended to lock up your gun when you have company is in the trunk of your car.
I put a safe in the console of my Tahoe when I bought it years ago. I would unlock it when I was in the car, and lock it in when I left.

A very good PSA!

But this is a problem created by the patchwork of CCW laws and policies. The only time my weapon is in my car is when I can't carry it (and I'm not talking soft policy [concealed is concealed]), I'm talking significant legal penalties. I imagine most people are the same since once you get somewhere your car is the only option for storage.

I use a car lockbox with a steel cable around the seat bracket. Lockbox is hidden under the seat. Yes, not going to completely stop an attempt but will buy time. I never do this overnight.

They're just prepping the narrative for the escalation of violence that is looming on the horizon after the SCOTUS confirmation, and any mid-term races that don't go the way the left feels they should.

They are foisting the burden of all the gun violence onto the shoulders of "irresponsible" gun owners (meaning all of us). "See, we told you you need us to keep you safe. Ban Guns!!!"

I hope this is all tinfoil talk, and perhaps it is just a report to wake folks up to the increase in property crime, but the timing of this seems a bit dubious to me.

Its not just guns, I don't understand why anyone leaves ANYTHING of value in their car.

On our neighborhood Nextdoor and Facebook pages we often have people talking about how someone broke into their (often unlocked) car and stealing their wallet, purse, laptop, cell phone, tools etc.

I suspect they're prepping us for stupid crap like Safe Storage laws which will be coming after the Colorado Blue Wave takes the state house, senate and governor's mansion in 6 weeks.

I hate to merge the ideas in different threads, but, the Kavanaugh appointment will mean a lot for the future of state level gun control. The more they push, the more opportunities to go the Court and get "clarity" on what keeping and bearing means. As if we needed clarity!

Yep, on Nextdoor, there have been handgun thefts in my hood in the past month and a half. Both from center consoles without reinforcement and “forgot to lock the door & set the alarm” targets of opportunity.

This.

Aside from things that are built into the vehicles (aftermarket stereo and such) I don't leave anything in them.

My truck got broken into on a work trip to Houston, and they didn't take anything. Everything was rifled through, and looked at, but they didn't take the tools, fancy stereo, or anything. Cops said they target hotels with out of state plates looking for cash and guns. Rarely do they see anything but those two items stolen.

I sincerely wish you were wrong, but I expect we are going to see a pretty strong blue showing here in CO.

When absolutely necessary I stow my pistol in a key-locked metal gun safe with a cable through it attached to a steel hook in the rear floorboard of my Explorer. Truck towel is on top of it. So far so good 12 years but never over night. This is the newest version got a couple years ago.

This is what comes to mind whenever I hear this stuff in the news. Pushing guilt/responsibility on the responsible users because either the cops can't, or legally prevented from, resolving the crime problem. See the same thing about the opioid epidemic and how it is now my responsibility to safeguard my meds because others cannot control themselves and cannot be held responsible cause, you know, they are addicts, boo hoo. I have become pretty calloused to the plight of criminals/addicts anymore. Can't deal with life? Sounds like Darwin in action to me.

Are you a responsible gun owner if you leave guns in your car?

No judgement from me. I forgot my 300 blk pistol in my car, AND forgot to lock it just last week.

Back in 2010 I was still working downtown and living in Englewood so I would park at the Oxford light rail station. Thing is, the Oxford station has no actual "parking lot", it's just street parking along Navajo or Windermere.

One afternoon in November I came back to find my passenger window smashed open. Every compartment of the truck had been gone through but the only things taken were a cheap stereo that probably wasn't worth $20, the $15 worth of change in the ashtray and an air compressor. All my tools were left there as was a near-new military Gore-Tex jacket, mag-lite, jumper cables, etc.

I noticed that of the whole long line of cars parked along Oxford mine was the only one targeted. My guess is that the NRA sticker on the back window of my 4runner led the thieves to believe there was a gun inside (there wasn't.) The total cost of the things taken from my truck was probably less than $100, but they did $1500 in damage to the window, window frame and dashboard. [Rant1]

First thing I did when I got home was to scrape the NRA decal off my window. Sad that it had to happen but that seems to be the world we're in now.

Glock muzzle with a 1911 barrel bushing, upside down, in front of a target?

I have resisted the urge to put stickers on my vehicles for a number of reasons, and this is one of them.

Advertising that there are, possibly, guns in your car is a great way to make it a target for damage from a theft.

What’s the PFC? Got a couple BlackPoint holsters for my X Carry (left and right hand - I alternate, being ambidextrous).

So they set out to make this super elite club that you have to join to get a PVD finished P229/226/220 and it looks like a PFC. I think that's damned funny. [LOL]

But my sense of humor is off.

I own several P226s myself, two MK25s and two SCTs. One older pre-Cohen. Love the P226 but I think the Legion thing is a gimmick which is what's happened after Cohen's management. Maybe the M17 contract will change things for the better.

It’s PV2 (e-2) in the Army. Our PFC’s have a rocker :)

Saw on next door someone had their fuel tank drilled and the diesel stolen.

This is why our vehicles go in the garage. It’s also why we have no bumper stickers of any kind on our vehicles.

I was managing a bar a few years back. A bartender (claimed to be retired Army Ranger) and I were talking guns, specifically Kimber. He says come outside, and pulls one out from under the seat of his truck. I told him he's a fool for keeping an expensive gun in his truck. He blew it off like no big deal.

I was going to say I never keep a gun in the car, except I just remembered Dad's Western Field (Montgomery Wards) .22 bolt action is in my truck. And has been all summer. Oops...

In 3 months two of my vehicles were broken into. One was slim jimmed, and they broke the rear 1/4 glass window in my excursion (a SOB to get a replacement). They didn't get anything out of the first vehicle, and the excursion they got a sleeping bag. Got them on video, and even think it was a solicitor that came to the door (I have ring doorbell and got a good video of him). Cops did nothing. They didn't even want the video.

I am beginning to think that if it does not have anything to do with guns or sex crimes, and if the folks that the cops are potentially hemming up have nothing to loose they don't even bother.

I now like to camp out in my vehicles from time to time... [flamingo]

I slapped the paw of a little sh*t @ 4am not too long ago. He was driving up the wrong side of the street, lights off, trying car doors out his driver window. I was loading the truck & saw him coming, hopped in the bed & waited. I smacked his hand so hard it hurt mine. OMGosh his face was just 3 big circles, two white & one giant black hole for a mouth. He was so startled I'm certain he continued to piss until at least the end of the block, maybe even the next. Grinned all week yes I did.

I have mind trips sometimes thinking about a water balloon through an open window or such.
When I was a teenager in high school walking home, a 50's convertible Corvette swerved near me and the passenger hosed me down with a fire extinguisher filled with water.
Yep, those memories don't fade away like the drinkin' parties at Yale.

I mean.. maybe. [Rant1]

Most SOI (infantry) grads are E-1, E-2 and went to the Fleet that way fully trained. 03s were usually Cpl/LCpl in their first contract. A Sgt E-5 was a hard charger but possible. The other technical MOSs were different and promoted more quickly. I was always jelly and grunts are perpetually butthurt over this.

We don't get a rocker until SSgt.
