View Full Version : New Idea soon to be available: SlingStock
I could get on-board with this. Depending on price.
Thoughts?

I don't have any tacticool experience, but the slings sure do get annoying in my tiny gun cabinet.

I've tried so many slings over the years I've lost count. I started with the old military web sling, went thru countless high-speed/low-drag sling designs, and now I'm right back where I started. Plain old military web sling on my ARs. Of course, I don't use rifles in the same way I once did, so it's not nearly as important to me as it once was.
But I still like A1 sights and pencil barrels, too.
He didn’t tell me to make a safe weapon when installing.
(I actually think this is cool but probably more geared for storage.)

I've never been 'high speed, low drag', so I'm probably not in their demographic. I think we humans sometimes overthink things, when keeping it simple may have been that way for a reason.

"God forbid, I go down and the tac-medic needs to break away .... " And he's still gonna snap his knife out and cut it off you without even looking at it twice. [facepalm]
How he talks will drive the sales and vendors out. I give it a 2 year.

A sling not getting caught in a rifle rack is definitely a plus to this...

I can see where it cleans up some of the clutter in the gun safe by getting the sling out of the way but I was taught half the purpose of the sling is to provide stability when firing but he didn't use it that way once.
I think it's a really cool concept. There is definitely some motor function teaching that will have to happen to run it smooth. The issue I have with it, is when I grab my rifle I immediately sling it (I run 2-point). Needing to retract/remove the sling doesn't really become a factor until I'm done for the day and storing the weapon. In that aspect, I think it's great. I don't have time to be farting around with disconnecting the 2-point mount, extending the sling, attaching the 2-point mount to a rail, then dealing with business. I think the majority of us are used to dealing with the sling when running the gun anyway.
I see there are advantages in different situations to either have a single-point, two-point, or no sling.
This allows for all three at the same time with infinite adjustability.
I just don't see a downside.
My main concern would be the ratcheting system getting tangled or otherwise bound up. It would become useless depending on the length at the time it failed.
I like it. Pretty inventive. However, I have a box full of slings and really don't need another regardless of the features.
High speed low drag? Ha! My drag coefficient keeps going up.....
This guy has this idea while standing in line at the movies.
Creative for sure. I didn't see him using it for support while shooting. That is my main interest in a sling.

Ok that was worth a giggle. Sheesh

Just like with any sling or weapon accessory it will fail you if you don't train with it.
The sling on my patrol rifle can be a one point or two point depending on how I set it. Frankly I do not like the one point and always runs two point.
However my rifle lives in the rack of my car most of the time and the biggest issue I have is deploying the rifle from the rack. It seems that no matter how I set up my sling it gets caught on something in my car as I'm trying to deploy it. Ti make matters worse I am a south paw, so if I have the sling tight against the receiver then the rifle may not fully seat the cartridge when I cycle the action.
I think this is a slick idea and would work well with enough training time. Someone mentioned that the sling could get stuck in position if the gear fails to release. This is probably true, but at that point you'd be running a normal sling like everyone else in the world.
Anyone ever get a price on point on the sling?
