So did any of you guys throw your hat into the ring for one of these?
I sent in a packet. I don’t think they have done the drawing yet.

From what I’m seeing on the CMP forum they have but are trying to notify/fill/inspect orders
The "official" last status was from October 6 when they said they were still.awaiting all the postarked entries. At that point they have to process every packet to verify that they meet all of the requirements and then assign a number to everyone's entry, once they complete that they would then email everyone to let them know what their entry number was. Once that was done they would start the drawing process. I have yet to receive an email telling me that my packet has been processed and what my number is.
I wouldn't trust the forums, no one is being drawn yet.
The 1911 page on theCMP page is the official page, they have stated that they will update the status as they complete each stage of.the process
Here is the official update page.

Latest CMP info from yesterday . Sounds like they have only graded 600 handguns and are just starting to contact people.

I think the CMP 1911’s have started reaching the hands of the first buyers. There’s been some threads started with pictures of received guns. The first couple were a little rough but the last couple I have clicked on seem to be pretty damn nice.

The information coming out on this is terrible. From the instructions and procedures outlined in the order packet, then not following their own procedures, to the official page being one of the last paces updated, to the condescending admins on the CMP forums who do provide occasional updates when they get over their power trips...... my packet is still in there and I’ll gladly buy one when it comes up, but this 1911 opportunity is not coming across as a well-oiled machine, are their rifle sales any better?
Rifle sales are much better. Still wish I'd got in on the 1911s.
Well, I finally got my RNG number notification a week ago as well as a statement saying that I didn't make the cut this time however my RNG number keeps my position in line for the next release of 1911s.
In theory the gov is supposed to release a batch of them every year until they are gone so here's to hoping it happens this coming year.
I'll note that MrWhiteRabbit is spot on with his comments, the handling of the 1911 program by the CMP has been nothing short of terrible. Many of the stupid rules that that were put in place were communicated in a thread of HUNDREDS of posts. Good luck sorting through all that mess and getting it right.
I did get my application in, however I put two applications for two separate people in one envelope. That's a no-no so my son's was tossed out. However given the general condition of guns that I've seen I've not missed much.
I did get notified a week or so ago that I did not make the cut.

I'll piggyback that
