View Full Version : Harbor Freight on Black Friday - am I crazy?
So normally I avoid going out on Black Friday like the plague, but I'm looking to pick up a couple new tool cabinets while they're on sale this week. Anybody ever attempted visiting Harbor Freight on black Friday?
If I knew for sure they'd still have stock, I'd wait until Saturday - or at least later Friday afternoon, but now am seriously thinking about getting up early to save a few bucks.
Does Harbor Freight get hit by the huge frenzy that you see on TV like the Walmarts and Targets and toy stores, etc. do? Am I insane even to be considering it?
Not sure, but there is a new one at c470 and Yosemite

I checked the website to see if there was a "Buy Online...Pickup in Store" option. Didn't see it. But I have one of their big tool 72" tool chests. Definitely worth it to chance the crowds.

Well, that’s positive. No more driving into Aurora for cheap tools.

Right behind LoDo's, by On The Border.
I think you'd be alright if that was the primary destination for you on Friday morning. The afternoon may be worse there actually... I seriously doubt that's giong to be at the top of the list for most of the numbskulls out early Friday morning.

They have coupons for 15% off all tool storage right now.
Harbor freight is a store even non handy person likes to visit.
Some tools really sucks there, but majority of them are not bad at all.
I would also look at craftsman tool chest. Sometimes they get real good deals going on.
For working man's tools, there's better options. But for most of us shadetree hacks and amateur gunsmiffs, most of their stuff is just dandy. I have more HF tools and things than I could even begin to list. So much that I rarely find anything I need there that I don't already have.

No, it's right off County Line and Quebec. Surprisingly, not many people know about that one yet, so you may have a chance.

They know now, by golly!

I am going to attempt to adult and not make any comments on that one. :)

Thanks for the tip. I couldn't visualize where it would be @ C470 and Yosemite. Looks like it's in the old Circuit City location south of C470.

We may not have been here at that point. It's in the old Savers building, which shares a wall with a Dollar Tree. A Babies R Us building shares the same large parking lot.
It's a damn fine location for a Harbor Freight, and we've already dropped a nice chunk of change there...and scouted out stuff to go on "the list".
Yeah, sorry, old-timer here. The building was originally constructed as a Circuit City electronics store. They were known for printing tremendously wide and long receipts. Buying all that thermal paper may have been one of the things that put them out of business. [Coffee]
Babies R Us also went out of biz with Toys R Us.
That new store is nice and definitely has a clean "Highlands Ranch" vibe compared to the crowded, older Aurora store. The employees were still figuring a few things out, but were super friendly and helpful and I hope they end up doing better in that location than the previous tenants...
I realized that if you sign up for the HF "club" for $30, you get access to the BF pricing today (Weds), so I wandered in there and got all my business done without dealing with the crowds. Plus there's a 50/50% chance they might let you stack some of the "today only / no restrictions" coupons on top of Black Friday deals. I did have to visit both the HR and the Aurora store to take care of all my shopping though.
I'm glad I stopped to rent a $25 trailer at HD though, those tool cabinets are a lot heavier than I thought they'd be.
Now I have no more excuses for having messy tool drawers. :)

I?m so glad you used the word ?tool? in that sentence.

I was pretty stoked when they opened the HR store. Used to be, I had to drive to SW Plaza . . . then they got a little closer with the "Cinderella City" store. Now it's right where I run a lot of errands anyway. Been in a few times already.

I hadn't seen the HF black friday ad, but I did get a 1 day only set of coupons today that covered all the stuff that normally their coupons don't cover.
Was going to pick up one of the Earthquake XT 1/2" impact guns... normally $149, the coupon expiring today would bring it down to $126.
Got there about 10 min before closing time, and the price tag on the shelf said $99. I assumed that was just mislabled, since that was the price of the base model earthquake 1/2" impact. I mentioned it, and the manager overheard. They had already put up the black friday price tags, so he gave me the black friday price!
I might go back and pick up another one on black friday for my son. He's been using the base model earthquake professionally for about 3 years now and loves it, but I'm sure he'd love the upgraded version even more.

Hmmm, tempting. I have the Husky one and it's mostly crap.

Battery or air?
Imo, air for longevity/larger demand reliability. We did invest in a "Fuel" cordless half inch impact for changing tires remotely, and it has been working pretty well for the six months or so since we implemented it. All of us at work have cordless drills and impacts (smaller scale) that work great for short haul projects.

The earthquake impacts get rave reviews from many mechanics and shops.
There is a nice breakdown of the earthquake impacts by AVE on youtube. Looked pretty good, but the rotor and housing could use some deburring to make it great.
