View Full Version : Sounds like a good idea, huh?

Gee...I think Americans would be all about having a "binational task force" to set 2nd Amendment policy regarding weapons legal citizens should or should not be "allowed" to own.

From the Washington Post:

Task Force Wants Ban On Assault Weapons
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/12/AR2009111211331.html

I love the last paragraph of the ariticle:

If the United States legalizes most of its illegal immigrants and allows for a flexible flow of legal workers, Mexico should stop illegal immigration from its side of the border, the panel said.

I wonder who the "most" refers to? Umm...Mexicans? What about the other illegals in the country? What kind of twisted, bureaucratic logic would think that the US legalizing criminal behavior should be some sort of prerequisite to securing our borders?

Christ on a crutch...no wonder I need blood pressure meds.

Wanna read another great article? Try this one from the Dakota Voice:

Survivor of Socialism Has Warning for America: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2009/11/survivor-of-socialism-has-warning-for-america/

Some of the parallels with what are happening today are just eery.

Gee, sounds like a fantastic idea!!! Where do I sign up!?

I mean, think about it, if we just ban all the deadly assault rifles, drug cartels in Mexico won't have access to deadly weapons! We should do this immediately!

Oh, and while we're at it, we need to ask Mexico to make all forms of street drugs illegal so no one will smuggle them into the US from the south..

Oh, wait......

As far as the situation with illegal immigrants, specifically Mexicans, we do need a more realistic policy. If I were in their shoes, facing the prospect of supporting a family in a poor corrupt country, I'd bug out to the US too.

I'm in construction. I've met tons and tons of Mexicans who come here for construction jobs and they are damn hard workers who simply want a better life for their families and themselves. I know there are a fair number who come up here and abuse the system, but most of them have a superior work ethic and make a positive contribution to the economy and to society.

The problems start when we get too many who come here illegally. An illegal has no legal right to be here and as such is much more likely to work for sub standard wages. This drives the wage scale down for many trades. Also, an illegal is typically paid cash and doesn't contribute through taxes to help fund services which they may recieve.

I think a potential solution to the problem is to make it a little easier for the honest ones to work here legally and a lot more difficult for the others. We need better border security for a number of reasons, but we also need to remember that in our country, damn near everybody is the descendent of immigrants. I have a lot more to say about this, but I don't want to spend all day typing...[Tooth]

Their opinion and a dollar won't even get you a cup of coffee.

We have to choose our battles, and the battles that matter are the ones that result in case presidence and law.

task force, think tank, tiger team... Call it what you want. Ultimately, the resulting opinions will be based on the chosen members opinions. Who chose the members? Way too easy to influence and stack IMO for something as nationally impacting as a constitutional right.

Mexico can F*** off, we loose our civil rights because their government is so corrupt they can't get the drug dealers/politicians (same thing) under control?
