I marked up some city landmarks as I am always fascinated seeing cities from the air. Anyway if your bored its the last 14 minutes of the flight. Probably better viewed in full screen from YouTube as the font I used sucks to read.

That was surprisingly entertaining, thank you. Were you able to mark all of those landmarks just by watching the video, or did you look some of them up?

Lake names on west side I had to look up with the exception of Sloans and Stanley, most of the rest I knew but verified it all via Google Earth.

So, the attendant did not announce that you should put your recording devices away while landing, so that you wouldn't cause the plane to crash?

[Dunno]

No actually they said on this United flight ... "larger devices must be turned off and stowed" such as laptops and iPad . But smaller devices like phones have to be in "airplane mode" cellular and wifi turned off but not completely powered off. I was compliant and only utilizing the phone as a camera.

Thanks to the generosity of a member here, I was given the opportunity to fly over the metro area in a small plane. Spotting landmarks when you?re going slow and low is pretty easy.

Here are a few shots from my cell phone. You might recognize some of them.

I had a couple of times where I could see my house during approach to DIA, and it was cool.

Interesting video, the font and color are hard to read though

Yep I will have to redo it with a better the original file is quite readable but it doesn't survive YouTube compression very well.

Nice. I do the same thing when flying. Even over rural parts of the country if we pass over a major highway I rack my brain trying to figure out exactly where we are.

Best time was flying to LA in 2000, I took an early morning flight and we passed over Monument Valley right at sunrise. Amazing! And then a few minutes later we passed over the Grand Canyon.
