Over the last few years I've seen Talon grips become insanely popular and it has me thinking I might give them a try.

I've handled a few handguns with Talon grips...but never fired one with them on. Are they worth it? They seemed very abrasive but I've read that there are a few varieties out there.

I swear by Talon grips, they offer the sandpaper texture and the rubberized texture (which is the only ones I've used). I would recommend the rubberized variety for daily carry.

I originally had the rubberized one on my carry gun. It was still in great shape after a couple years use, but I decided I wanted to switch to the sandpaper texture instead. It's a little rough if it's against skin, but I really like how much better I can grip the gun. If you want SOME of the sandpaper texture, I've heard of people getting that one, and then sanding it down slightly to remove a little of the grit.

Thanks for your feedback! Are they more noticeable in extended fire sessions or are they beneficial right off the bat too?

I suppose it depends what you?re putting them on. Are they a huge improvement on something like a gen 4 Glock? Not for me. But they pretty much go on every Gen 3 Glock I own as I feel the Gen 3 Glocks are a little slick without them. I?ve only ever used the rubber ones for whatever that?s worth. I?ve run the sandpaper type grips on pistols that were only for range or competition use but for daily carry I wouldn?t consider them as they can be rather clingy or abrasive towards things like clothing or love handles.

Yep. I had an early shield that definitely benefited from the Talons. I also had a shield in 45 ACP that I felt didn?t need them since the factory texture on it was plenty grippy.

I am very happy with the rubberized Talons that are on my Glock 43.

Yes.

I never believed in them till I bought a set. Amazon sells a brand called US grips or something like that and almost all of my handguns have them now.

Do they leave a residue on the gun or something? For under $20 it doesn't seem like it'd be too risky to just buy some and try them.

I've removed a couple of them. Thought maybe I'd have to clean up some goo with some rubbing alcohol or whatever. Nope. They came off clean. Maybe I just got lucky.

When I replaced my rubberized one with the sandpaper one, the old one came off perfectly clean after a quick wipedown with rubbing alcohol.

My guns typically either have wood grips or talon grips depending on what the gun is. Love the rubberized version. Not sure why you would want to be shooting with sandpaper rubbing your hands but it takes all kinds.
