Haven't been around much but wanted share some of what I'm seeing on FB. This is what happens when entitled Libs move in and vote for more taxes.... they're never happy!

This is Palmer Hoegh who advocated for 5A&B because she thought she was entitled to my paycheck and didn't think the district had to justify it's current funding level/spending. The tax-and-spend Libs and their moderate useful idiot voters will cost my family about $250/year in property taxes with no sunset. DougCo already had the highest property taxes in the metro.

We don't (won't) have any children in DougCo public schools! So there's no "you're getting a service, pay for it" argument with me.

(Yes, FB sucks but that is the only place I am finding this info/vids)

Here she is in front the board this Tuesday asking where her money is and complaining about the "lack of transparency" (i.e. the board and super just did whatever the hell they felt like with the $40M).

There are more teachers crying over spilt milk on the Douglas County School District Watch FB page.

A few questions and comments:

1. is this the new school board members who were supported by the teachers union?

2. Were not the old board members rejected who favored merit pay for teachers and replaced with the teachers union candidates?

3. Look around and look at the school infrastructure and ask yourself how much of your Mil levy goes toward that.

4. Sounds like school choice and vouchers and more independence might be a better course of action.

I'll admit since we don't use the government schools I don't have all the info.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Don't know. What I do know is that some line item needs in the propaganda for 5A&B listed facilities needs for schools that were only 15 years old. There is much heated debate on what the old "Conservative" board did to fund infrastructure and care for facilities. IMHO, a lot of people get paid in public education to not deliver.

4. We had vouchers in DougCo and lost them in 2008. The Lib coalition (teacher's unions, ACLU, etc) went all the way to the CO Supreme Court to end them. Their concern was that "taxpayer money" (it's my money coming back to me!!!) could be used to fund Christian education. They do not go to court to stop funding of Jewish or Muslim schools, only Christian ones. So we lost vouchers because families were using them for private Christian schools which remain one of the best alternatives to the government education camps IMHO.

We still have charter schools in the district and they get excellent reviews, and have waitlists, but are under constant attack because they perform so much better than the government schools. I think a big part of this is parent/student engagement but just drives home the need for choice.

Reason # 243,000 for moving out of CO.

That's the number of CA liberals who moved in last quarter of 18.

My kids go to HS in The Ranch and teachers have been complaining openly about where the money from the increase is going (i.e. not much to them). We told the kids we were voting against the increase and why . . . that they'll raise the taxes, misuse the money like they already do and then be back for more crying that it wasn't enough. Seems the playbook is being broken out early.

This has been going on for decades. The mainstream media doesn't report it (because they're all part of the same cabal) and the parents don't look for news outside of the mainstream media (so much for the "critical thinking" they "learned" in college) so the parents continually vote for tax increases.

Majority of the money doesn't go to teachers or classrooms, it goes to the administrators who grow their administration, pay the union leadership, and contribute to communist candidates.

The communist tide is moving to all the places I would pick to live in, AZ, ID, MT. I can't abide much wind so WY is out for a destination right now but we might just have to deal with the wind and move there.

If you don't like wind, then Montana is off your list as well.

I recently listened to a podcast that was saying that when a major newspaper closes down, corruption levels go up. They actually used Denver for the example.

Corruption goes up because it's easier to pay off / silence 1 or 2 reporters than a roomful. The flip side is. Imagine if there were true investigative reporters not some toe the line sheep who regurgitates the mantra of the week.

Geraldo Rivera cut his teeth doing hard hitting exposes, then slowly tapered off. Relying instead on his talk show and name to advance.

They're out there, but the pilling up of those who oppose the truth overwhelms the issue.

Has anyone seen real numbers on current teacher salaries accounting for the benefits of time off, retirement, incentives and such?

A lot of voters are bamboozled into believeing the tax increses are going to help "the children" when in fact that is a lie. It really is racketeering and fraud of epic proportions IS what it is. They make the Gambinos and La Cosa Nostra look like honest business men.

My kid goes to school in Douglas County. Yeah, there are some things that might be nice to upgrade or have, but I voted no on any and all tax increases. Balance your budget, identity needs vs wants, have a school by school fundraiser to get your money.

As soon as possible I?m going to homeschool or send him to a Christian school. My wife just doesn?t get it, she?s a product of Arizona and Washington state public education and nothing but fond memories of her indoctri..., err education.

There should be no public school. There needs to be competition for your business. Lack of vouchers is theft. Taxation for people with no children in school is theft. Unions need to be disbanded, by force if necessary.

Agree and your post inspires me to write paragraphs, but I won't. I've already thoroughly ranted on this subject.

I have a good friend who is a teacher and parent disengagement stemming from sense of entitle is a huge problem. She can't even kick the bad apples out (who disrupt the classes). The parents defend their children most of the time.

It's government run daycare with indoctrination and nothing more.

Christian schools are definitely the way to go IMHO. Even if you're not Christian, as long as you/your kids can respect the values of the school it's a vastly superior experience and the last bastion of Western Civilization in education. And yes, Libs are attacking it, the Covington deal is about exactly that.

Oh, and I'm not sure if we've seen this but, yeah, this is the quality of teacher you get in public education...

Much of it is becoming more and more an indoctrination of identity politics under the umbrella of cultural marxism and socialism. An indoctrination on how to be little activists for the leftist political agenda.

Michelle Grissom at Mountain Ridge Middle School is now on leave and her Twitter account has been deleted. Might be a good time for her to update her linkedin page as she has no business teaching our children and should consider a career in another field. She has shown herself to be a very pathetic human being.

Well I guess there is more out there that isn't on that website.

I cannot confirm this because she nuked her account.

I wonder how many "sleeper agents" the Left has in public education that aren't stupid enough to post under their real name on the internet. Explains a lot.

Since this has also turned into a Michelle Grissom thread (my fault), here is an update from last night's DCSD board meeting...

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/lifestyle/education/superintendent-recommends-dougco-teachers-termination-after-covington-catholic-comments

Superintendent recommends DougCo teacher's termination after Covington Catholic comments

The superintendent for the Douglas County School District has recommended that Mountain Ridge Middle School teacher Michelle Grissom be dismissed.

Superintendent Thomas Tucker made the recommendation during a meeting of the Douglas County School Board on Tuesday.

In a statement to the media, Tucker said under Colorado law, Grissom is entitled to a hearing and the school board will be the final judge as to whether she is retained or dismissed.

IMHO, they have done everything possible to protect her. She is currently on paid leave.

And this is a nice detail since we were assured by pro 5A/B people there was no teacher's union in DougCo...

Grissom also resigned from her leadership position with the union following backlash from her tweets.

Here is the unnamed union...
