My "emergency" gun would be whatever I can get to. Generally that would be a Glock 19 or an AR6520. Both are stock except for night sights on the Glock.

Considering I live in the city I doubt I'll be in a position to engage a threat at distance, so my go-to gun is going to be my EDC piece (currently a Steyr S40 or if I just came home from work a S&W M38)

I’m not going to label anything my “go to gun” until I’ve run it and vetted it for reliability and consistency.

I was wondering about this too.
M1A in general is my go to gun. Have 2 Scouts. This set up works well on both. Selling it to free up some cash for another project. Thank you for your interest.

I hope I never have an emergency that requires a bayonet.
I also think it will be hard to claim self defense in a shooting that requires magnified optics.

Very nice M1A. I recently sold mine and boy do I regret it. My go to gun is a Sig MPX off in 9mm. I also have a very nice Daniel Defense DDM4V7LW that easily shoots a ragged hole at 300 + yards.

My go-to gun is a Colt Defender .45.
While we're on the subject: Before going to bed last night I was thinking about the FL pregnant woman recently in the news for using an AR to defend her family against home intruders. I had a frustrating dream that I had multiple well-armed intruders in my home and I was running out of ammo for the Defender and the rest of my guns were locked in my safes in the basement - with the bad guys between me and my AR's. I woke up thinking how I need to put an AR with several loaded mags upstairs.

Strange. Ammunition shortage fears have never crept into my dreams. Of course I?m a Glock guy.
My go-to is a long gun. But it also isn?t really. The first thing I would grab for a dastardly bump in the night is my Glock 19. With two spare magazines handy I have 46 rounds that have to get me from my bed to my long gun that is about eight feet away.
So, while the Glock is the first firearm I grab that may or may not make it my go to as my go to is typically an AR or a shotgun depending on my mood.

Not sure. between the 50 yds they have to run, after getting over the fence dealing with entering the home and 2 dogs.
I think i have a few minutes to pick something from the safe, while i'm stopping any threat that made it that far, with the g19 and 850 lumen light. ;) .
on a serious note there's a few surprises scattered about the house we can choose from.
