View Full Version : What's going on at 6th Ave and Inca?
Wife just called and said there is a lot of police presence at I-25 and 6th Ave.
I looked at a few local news sources and the only thing they are reporting is a heavy police presence at 6th and Inca and they are working on finding out what's going on. Guess we'll find out soon.
Listening to Denver dispatch on broadcastify...not a lot of info, but a shit ton of DPD and EMS responding
Blocking off streets. Look at the camera in this link. Lots of police present.

Two officers were shot and taken to hospital with "good prognosis."

The first link was just the Channel 7 breaking news feed. Here is the link to the page specific to this incident with pretty much the same info. https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/crime/two-denver-police-officers-injured-after-shots-fired-at-6th-ave-and-inca-st
One officer shot in leg, other in stomach, both expected to be okay.
Hope the officers fully recover.
Was going south on 25 and saw lots of unmarked vehicles, lights and sirens, going north as far south as 470. One hell of a call had to go out and who knows what they're dealing with.

Yes.
Eek. Hope they recover fast and well. Glad the perp was a bad shot. Too bad he wasn’t worse.
Good live media stream...

DPD conference at 4:00PM.
KDVR trying to verify a doorbell cam picture of a man with a rifle.
Parishioners still stuck in St. Joseph's.
KDVR doesn't have the conference but 7 does...

DPD sets fire to suspect house while tear gassing it.
House now totally in flames.
I’ll bet that the suspect was not even in there.
News said they didn't even know if anyone was inside.
Well... that's one way to solve the problem.
Don't see DFD on the scene in any vids. Maybe not safe for them to move in? Neighboring homes are going to be involved if nothing happens.
News reporting an arrest being made.
News reporting an arrest being made.
Yup. Naked (?) suspect in custody.
Ownership info on the house, based on location info heard on the scanner...

Does home insurance cover Denver PD burning down your house with tear gas?

Didnt really work out that well for the owners in Greenwood village when a random dude ran in and holed up in their house a few years back, before the cops ripped most of the walls down.

Good lawyers can get you anything.
No
[LOL] That was a fast and absolute answer from the resident insurance expert! Good to know.
Can I buy a rider?
Generally any police activity is specifically excluded. It's been a while but there is wording about being engaged in criminal activities. These cases where the insured wasn't the one engaged in the criminal activity are still denied coverage due to the actions of the government part.

Good lawyers can get you anything.
No they cannot. They will tell you on t.v, radio and print how much they've gotten other people.

That’s rough but good to know. I was joking about needing a rider but you can’t control the behavior of others.
I figured you were, but because riders provide coverage that was otherwise specifically excluded in the base policy, I thought I'd clear it up just in case.

I lawyered myself and got a brand new house. Your abilities may vary.

OJ got away with double murder. If you have a good team, your odds go way up.
Not seeing any new info in the media about this today other than estimates on opening the area back up. I'll admit I'm not following EVERY site but it seems odd.
How many times do we know the suspect's ID, weapons used, politics, and how gun control could have prevented this within hours of an event like this. And nothing.
On a shooting where people other than cops get shot, sure, less with stuff like this though. I saw a clip on the news this morning, but as you said, nothing about the perp at all.
According to a 9 News employee on Twitter, suspect has died at the hospital...

Pity that he won't waste tax payer dollars any more than he has.
Will pray for his soul anyway.

From burns and smoke inhalation? No judgement, just curious.

Lack of medical insurance...

Again, that's the kind of thing you'd expect to be released.
That along with the way this was a major multi-agency call makes me think there's something bigger than the media has reported. Yeah, officers down sucks and isn't a trivial thing but we've had that before in the recently metro and not seen that kind of call out.

And now Houston has five officers shot. It is war on the streets. What is the answer? "Police infantry" training? Military assistance? Better equipment? Is there a solution to this?

Serving a narcotics warrant.. so basically a no-knock raid. I wonder how many are blue on blue?
Suspect ID'd

Joseph Quintana, 35
If there was social media, there was no point in scrubbing it. I can't count the number of the Joseph Quintanas in Denver.
I guess this doesn't fit the narrative as indicated by the reported and releases of info.

Lots of questions in that Houston incident.
Man accused of shooting 2 Denver police officers died by suicide, medical examiner says
https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/crime/man-accused-of-shooting-2-denver-police-officers-died-by-suicide-medical-examiner-says
Also some explanation on the lack of releases/reporting buried at the end...
Quintana had at least two felony convictions — for assault and felony menacing with a weapon — and was prohibited from possessing firearms. According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, he had a history of violence and had been arrested previously for felony menacing with a weapon, resisting arrest, obstructing police, assault, domestic violence, kidnapping, child abuse, burglary, DUI, driving with a restrained license and driving without a license.
Must have been an NRA member and bought his gun off the Internet. When the current laws don't work, the answer surely isn't more of them.

Sounds like a real jack of all trades.
