I-70 closed at the moment. Eastbound may open soon. Westbound may take until tonight. Or longer.

Yep, I was in Grand Junction headed back to Denver yesterday.
Multiple visits to the C-Dot website, trying to get news from the radio, etc. no report of the status or guess when it would open.
The alternate was to go north from Rifle to Steamboat Springs, then head east and make it back over Berthoud Pass.
Estimate of 3 hours addition to trip. Talked with a couple of truckers and their guess was add 4 hours due to narrow roads and increased detoured traffic.
Got to Rifle, and no one knew anything. Stopped at the visitor center that was closed for remodeling. Called 511 and the call was stopped midway through.
I called again, and the report was that Eastbound was open, Westbound would be closed probably through Wednesday.
We headed east on I-70. All the traffic was getting off at Glenwood Springs, but the road was not closed, so we kept going.
We were the only ones in the canyon most of the way.
Eerie.
Got to Dotsero and Westbound was blocked and closed. They closed Easbound just after we got through until later last night because they were bringing in a crane to move rock on the Westbound side.
We hit the window that Eastbound was open just right. Timing is everything!
