The 10 Most Insane Requirements Of The Green New Deal (http://thefederalist.com/2019/02/07/ten-most-insane-requirements-green-new-deal/)

By David Harsanyi
FEBRUARY
7, 2019
(http://thefederalist.com/author/dharsanyi/)

Note: Ocasio-Cortez?s office has taken down their page describing the Green New Deal.
A number of Democratic Party presidential hopefuls (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/the-green-new-deal-a-green-new-deal-whatever-it-is-2020-democrats-support-it/2019/01/30/a75166d4-2340-11e9-ad53-824486280311_story.html?utm_term=.8e91e8bf59ef) ? including Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, Juli?n Castro, and Beto O?Rourke, for starters ? have already endorsed or expressed support for the ?Green New Deal? (GND). Today, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Edward J. Markey dropped details (https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5729035/Green-New-Deal-FAQ.pdf) about her plan.

It is not hyperbole to contend that GND is likely the most ridiculous and un-American plan that?s ever been presented by an elected official to voters. Not merely because it would necessitate a communist strongman to institute, but also because the societal costs are unfathomable. The risible historic analogies Markey and Ocasio-Cortez rely on, the building of the interstate highway system or moon landing, are nothing but trifling projects compared to a plan that overhauls modernity by voluntarily destroying massive amounts of wealth and technology. That is the GND.
While some of the specifics need to be ironed out, the plan?s authors assure us that this ?massive transformation of our society? needs some ?clear goals and a timeline.? The timeline is ten years. Here are some of the goals:

Ban affordable energy. GND calls for the elimination of all fossil fuel energy production, the lifeblood of American industry and life, which includes not only all oil but also natural gas ? one of the cheapest sources of American energy, and one of the reasons the United States has been able to lead the world in carbon-emissions reduction.
Eliminate nuclear energy. The GND also calls for eliminating all nuclear power, one of the only productive and somewhat affordable ?clean? energy sources available to us, in 11 years. This move would purge around 20 percent (https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3) of American energy generation so you can rely on intermittent wind for your energy needs.
Eliminate 99 percent of cars. To be fair, under the GND, everyone will need to retrofit their cars with Flintstones-style foot holes or pedals for cycling. The authors state that the GND would like to replace every ?combustion-engine vehicle? ? trucks, airplanes, boats, and 99 percent of cars ? within ten years. Charging stations for electric vehicles will be built ?everywhere,? though how power plants will provide the energy needed to charge them is a mystery.
Gut and rebuild every building in America. Markey and Cortez want to ?retrofit every building in America? with ?state of the art energy efficiency.? I repeat, ?every building in America.? That includes every home, factory, and apartment building, which will all need, for starters, to have their entire working heating and cooling systems ripped out and replaced with?well, with whatever technology Democrats are going invent in their committee hearings, I guess.
Eliminate air travel. GND calls for building out ?highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.? Good luck Hawaii! California?s high-speed boondoggle is already in $100 billion dollars of debt (https://www.forbes.com/sites/patrickgleason/2018/12/14/jerry-brown-leaves-california-with-100b-train-debt-as-texas-pursues-its-own-rail-boondoggle/#64140d4a2b65), and looks to be one of the state?s biggest fiscal disasters ever. Amtrak runs billions of dollars in the red (though, as we?ll see, trains that run on fossil fuels will also be phased out). Imagine growing that business model out to every state in America?
A government-guaranteed job. The bill promises the United States government will provide every single American with a job that includes a ?family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and a pension.? You can imagine that those left in the private sector would be funding these through some unspecified ?massive? taxation. On the bright side, when you?re foraging for food, your savings will be worthless.
Free education for life. GND promises free college or trade schools for every American.
A salubrious diet. The GND promises the government will provide ?healthy food? to every American (because there are no beans or lettuce in your local supermarket, I guess).
A house. The GND promises that the government will provide, ?safe, affordable, adequate housing? for every American citizen. I call dibs on an affordable Adams Morgan townhouse. Thank you, Ocasio-Cortez.
Free money. The GND aims to provide, and I am not making this up, ?economic security? for all who are ?unable or unwilling? to work. Just to reiterate: if you?re unwilling to work, the rest of us will have your back.
Bonus insanity: Ban meat. Ocasio-Cortez admits that we can?t get zero emissions in 10 years ?because we aren?t sure that we?ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.? The only way to get rid of farting cows is to get rid of beef.

The GND uses the word ?massive? to explain the size ?investments? (formerly known as ?taxes?) 13 times. How will we pay for this plan? ?The same way we did the New Deal, the 2008 bank bailouts and extend quantitative easing,? say Markey and Cortez, who earned her degree in economics at an institution of higher learning that should be immediately decertified. The plan itself seems to insinuate that billionaires can pay for the whole thing. Of course, best case scenario, it is estimated (https://taxfoundation.org/70-percent-tax-initial-analysis/) that instituting a top marginal tax rate of 70 percent would raise a little more than $700 billion over that decade. She does not explain how we?re going to raise the other 20 bazillion dollars it will cost to tear down modernity.

Cortez and Markey claim that 92 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of Republicans support the Green New Deal. I?m not sure where that number is derived. But ask them again when government agents come to take out their water heater.

In before "far fetched" and "no chance."

This has nothing to do with the environment, it just backs Communist non-solutions into the manufactured crisis. The attack on red meat is also part of the plan. It's easier to keep populations alive on processed high-carb foods.

And if you doubt the Communist part of this (hey we're just talking Socialism here) there isn't a single part of this that doesn't require forced obedience or will create resource scarcity.

Public/private partnership is also already funneling her money. This is a bad sign.

Both. I also think he means more bottomle$$ pit bureaucracy that is completely unnecessary, unwanted, and unconstitutional.... agencies or departments that go around harassing and coercing people to do things under the false premise of "for the greater good of humanity" i.e. communism.

The GND promises that the government will provide, 'safe, affordable, adequate housing' for every American citizen.

Exactly what constitutes "adequate" housing? It sounds like the current Projects in Queens, NY would be a nicer place to live than "adequate" housing would be if this plan occurs.

Her rise to power is disturbing. She is also very young, many years to pillage.

She is admitted socialist. Very popular with millennial's and beloved by snowflakes. She beat a 10 term incumbent with all the usual old crony supporters in the primary 57-43 and beat Republican candidate in general election 78-14. Yes, very left district but 64 points...

Short quote from wiki bio -
A member of the Democratic Socialists of America,[13] Ocasio-Cortez has advocated for a progressive platform that includes Medicare For All, a federal jobs guarantee, guaranteed family leave, establishing a Green New Deal, abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, free public college and trade school, infrastructure projects for renewable energy, and a 70% marginal tax rate for incomes above $10 million.

I'd say they're not as ignorant as they are perceived to be sometimes. They've been extremely effective at infiltration and subversion for many years, for decades. A dumbed down indoctrinated society is a weak society that is easily subverted. They've managed to infiltrate education at all levels, entertainment, main stream media, many financial institutions, and obviously government. All one has to do is turn on the television to see it as it is in just about everything with the exception of the hunting channel...go figure.

I say ignorant in that they are ultimately unaware of how wrong their philosophy or goals are. That they have a decided strategy to achieve their (ignorant) goals, is like you say, genius, or at least, working. :(

From Cold Fury - http://coldfury.com/

Sorta reminds me of Kipling:

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

Smart fella, that Kipling. Damned near prescient, too. No wonder the libtards hate him so much. But as I always say, their argument isn’t with him. It’s with reality.

At least for now (as my thinking on this is subject to change considering the historical ignorance of the population at large) I see this a little differently. AOC is a creation of the media. I don't listen to talk radio much these days but I did hear Rush Limbaugh say he was absolutely certain at some point the media will turn on her. I think this is true. And I think some of the "old guard" in the communist democrat party will also turn on her and her new-age commie cohorts.

I also think if this goes on much longer they might as well start the inauguration plans for Trump's second term. Because this kind of nonsense will guarantee his re-election.

Hickenlooper is gonna be the guy to watch in my opinion. He'll talk a good, moderate game leading up to 2020 and might just convince enough voters that the leftists aren't all batshit crazy. He's good at that. At this point, I think he's the only leftist that has a chance at beating Trump.

Yes, this GND is stunningly stupid. But it sounds good to stupid people with no idea how the world works and no inkling of history. And there are a LOT of stupid people out there who are eligible to vote.

It is certainly beneficial to the d's to portray hick as a "normal man, in a normal (married) relationship" as a candidate. I'm not saying he may not be hetero and in love with wife #2. I didn't even know there was a #2. Certainly more pressure on a national candidate to come across as more "mainstream" for the rest of America. Especially with the current state of politics/politicians in CO as we head into the next major election cycle.

Or maybe i"m just cynical.

Cynicism is certainly warranted!!!

Since everything is flipped, there is now more political advantage to "coming out" if you're a Dem. It would have been better to stay single or come out. I bet there are people pretending to be gay or "bi" for exactly this reason. If a white person will pretend to be black or Native American, why not pretend to be gay?

As it stands, Hick doesn't check any boxes that elevate him in the Special People Hierarchy. He's stuck here in the bottom with me, except with all that money, it's worse. Money = privilege and value that was taken by exploiting Special People.

All the vile racism/sexism/etc of the Left locks out white males even though Hick would have significant value to the Left in centering the party as a moderate. Hick made Liberalism sustainable in CO and transitioned us to Polis. This would be very powerful at a national level but the Left doesn't have this patience. They're putting a lot of eggs in the AOC basket. Forward!!!

The GND would be outlandishly comical . . . if only there weren't so many idiots out there who eagerly lap up anything people like AOC, Sanders and Warren say or do. The left has gone full-on socialist and there's no stopping that train, I fear. We'll hold it off for awhile, but ambition and self-determination are giving way to generations of voters who think they shouldn't have to lift a finger to have everything they want and to be able to live a care-free life at everyone else's expense (especially those eveil rich people).

This country is going the way of CA and NY and once that scale tips competely, it's going to be a disaster.

Hickenlooper will run for president, but realistically he's probably going to be aiming for an appointed position like Secretary of State.

AOC is a thorn in the side of the establishment dems like Pelosi, but it doesn't matter because the old line establishment dems will probably not have control of the party for more than a decade at most. On top of that, she's got plenty of funding and, more importantly the media is behind her, especially the Young Turks/Buzzfeed/Vice/Vox/Slate types.

To make things even more worrisome, the fact that she's an imbecile with a 430 credit score, a lukewarm IQ, two apartment evictions, and no sense of responsibility doesn't matter because the people who voted her into office are exactly like her and see these things as a point of similarity.

She may be an idiot, but the machine behind her is not, and they, and the press, will continue to give her a pass on her moronic foibles as "oh, look, she's not an experienced politician, so of course she's going to have gaffes, it's no biggie."

In short, "she's an idiot just like me" is the new "he's a candidate I could sit down with for a beer."

http://thefederalist.com/2019/02/12/political-journalists-are-trying-to-gaslight-america/

In the past week, I’ve noticed a number of Democrats and liberal journalists refusing to concede inconvenient facts.

No shit, Democrats are liars and the people that vote (D) are active accomplices, remember that if the communists ever get around to their "civil war".

The same game is being played with the Green New Deal proposal.

“I really don’t like their policy of taking away your car, of taking away your airplane rights, of let’s hop a train to California, of you’re not allowed to own cows anymore,” Trump said in the El Paso speech. White House Bureau Chief at The Washington Post Philip Rucker let his 340,000 followers on Twitter know that this was “false” and that “no one” had proposed any such thing. David Weigel, another well-read political reporter at The Post, who had earlier co-bylined a piece with the misleading headline “Ocasio-Cortez retracts erroneous information about Green New Deal,” retweeted Rucker’s falsehood to his 450,000 followers.

First of all, even if Ocasio-Cortez did walk back her pitch, it was proposed. This might be inconvenient, but it’s also indisputable. Simply because a politician pulls a proposal that’s been dragged across the entire internet and beaten senseless does not mean its existence has been expunged from the record.

This also has the HB she submitted.. Who exactly is going to foot the bill for my replacement home? Besides the income enhanced worker, who if this actually got signed in to law. Would no longer work as income would be guaranteed to all

Some more for you to read about this ridiculous piece of commie crap that some people on this board would gleefully vote for.

http://bastionofliberty.blogspot.com/2019/02/rangers-outriders-and-scouts.html

Now let’s assign some function titles:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a ranger of the Left. It’s her task to probe the pro-freedom forces for weakness by advancing radical proposals. How conservatives and Republicans respond to her probes is what her masters most want to know.
Various commentators on both sides of the political divide work as outriders. They seek to chart reliable courses through the public-policy Sturm und Drang that legislators and executives can trust. Many a legislator has consulted some body of opinion writers before speaking publicly on some subject of interest. Indeed, one can find numerous cases where a legislator has lifted a large portion of some op-ed and made it the basis of a presentation of his own.
Media functionaries and pollsters function as scouts, usually by gauging the temper of the electorate after some public-policy battle has been joined. The information they gather is of critical interest to the proposers of particular policies, who might choose to firewall the gas pedal or to slam on the brakes according to what the scouts have to report.

I'm just gonna leave this here: https://www.b4place.com/cyclocroft-colorado/

So, basically a ghetto for urban lemmings that choose to live right on top of each other, while eschewing literally everything that used to make living in Colorado great. People in Europe don't live in dense little packets because they want to, they do it because they've run out of space. The new world was literally explored for that reason...

Irving

50,000 people in one square mile? There are people that are compatible with dense city living, and I'm happy to let them live in small areas if they want. It's not a terrible idea, it just won't be for everybody, which is fine since no one is forced to live there. They talk about no streets, but the reality is that there isn't going to be enough business to support 50,000 people. Unless this is an early retirement community, people are inevitably going to branch out for better opportunities and it is going to cause a traffic nightmare, somewhere.

I'm already bummed that Denver and Fort Collins run/ruin the entire state as it is. Packing an extra 50,000 people in a small space doesn't seem like it will help.

Irving
02-14-2019, 12:31
The Green New Deal is a government plan to force people into an unsustainable living model through threat of imprisonment and death. Mr. Money Mustache's modern day hippy commune trailer park is just like any other HOA where people can choose to participate and has fuck all to do with the GND. What they have in common is that they are both short sighted and will cost a ton of time and money just to craft what will ultimately fail and cost even more time, money, and resources to reverse a short time in the future.

ETA: Both are just the liberal version of the border wall.

They’re happy to give up huge yards, fast roads, and seas of parking lots, because they know that these become unsustainable maintenance and public safety liabilities

I guess mowing ones lawn is scary and a public safety, to some weak kneed"man" But honey the lawnmower has a blade that could fly off killing how many innocent trees and children in the neighborhood

If one is that insecure of what ever it is, they deserve living on top and literally in each others space.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I can think of many down sides to living there, but I'm not going to live there so I don't care. Seems like it could make a lot of people a lot of money though. MMM himself is all about doing his own work, but I think most of his followers aren't. Once the reality of having the narrow streets filled with trash trucks, carpet cleaners, moving vans, service trucks, and delivery trucks all the time sets in, electricians and AC repair people would love to have a 50k customer pool trapped inside a single square mile.

If this ever gets off the ground, I'd look at building a storage unit complex with a few dog wash stations as close as possible. A roof sales person could probably clear $500k no problem when the right size hail storm rolls through. Another let down for the community when the neighborhood is packed with adjuster vans and roofing crew trucks for the next six months.

Covered parking lots with a shuttle service would also be good. Nobody is going to be happy trapped in their little socialist utopia forever...and the ones that wish to escape periodically will need transportation to the real world. Maybe some sort of car rental/sharing setup would be good as well.

His hot wife divorced him? I didn't know that.

There might be an argument of cramming 50k people into a small space if it slightly relieves pressure from surrounding areas and puts less cars on the roads in the real world. No idea if it outweighs having an enormous population of people to further outweigh the votes of those in rural areas.

The fact that Amazon pulled from New York and cited her and her ilk as the reason, which has entrenched dems pissed, just ads another nail to the coffin of the GND which was never going anywhere. Next we should talk about universal income, which I'm sick of hearing about, but feel like it should be poked and prodded until the idea either dies or thrives. That's for another thread though.
