ive got a single digit semi custom fusion 1911 in 10mm. wondering if any knowledgeable person can comment on desirability of being one of the first ones made and if getting it refinished would take away value. will put up pics later

Do a search to see what the "asking" prices are . Custom only brings what the market bears.

Like 007? Might make it collectible...

If I were gonna weigh in on this, I'd say don't worry. I think the only if Fusion were to stay in b.usiness, and become a firearms icon. Are very early Clackamas Kimbers worth more? My guess is not is gonna matter unless the number is cute. Like the mentioned 007

My go-to for gun values is Gunbroker. I look at COMPLETED auctions within the last year where the item actually sold. That gives me a "high" and "low" range of prices.

When it came time to sell some guns last year that's what I used and the amount I got was pretty much what I saw on GB. If I'm aiming for a quick sale (which I usually am) I put my asking price at a little above the "low average."

There's some interesting stuff going on right now with Les Baer Thunder Ranch Specials since they're no longer made-replaced by either the UTC or the new Gunsite model depending on how you look at them. Lots of fans are searching for the early guns from the Hillsdale shop with low serial numbers. Old S&Ws (especially pre model number from 1956 and earlier) and Colts will always be hot commodities. Niche brand guns are hard to tell-lots of very nice and expensive 1911s from Ted Yost and other full custom builds are floating around at very high prices-I'll never have enough to spend on them lol.

There are a couple Fusion 10mm on a popular auction site at low prices but no idea how old they are.

Refinishing any gun the may have collector value, instantly kills the high price. If you plan on keeping it forever, do what you want. Selling, leave as is.

thats part of the issue - i dont think it will ever be more than retail, but if i refinish it i could probably get 3/4 or more of retail while in its current state, im guessing i could get around 1/2

I?ve got an Argentinian 1911, one of the first 200 made by Argentina in the late 40s if I recall correctly. I?ve been wondering what kind of value the early serial number and early slide markings would add.

Do this.

Refinishing ruins collector value. It is only original once.

Its only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

Fusion isn’t a huge name in custom or even semi custom 1911’s and I don’t think a low serial # will make a bit of a difference in its resale value. Do what you want with it, but I’d keep it if I were you. Just being honest.

Some companies will refinish their own products. Never hurts to ask.

Shoot the crap out of it, enjoy it, keep it in the best possible condition while researching the value.

Have fun with it!

Now see, this is where I was coming from when I asked in a different thread recently, why is everyone selling stuff off. Not a derail attempt here, just a related observation within context.

Cause I’m buying other stuff

Cause I?m buying other stuffThat's the only reason I sell anything, in fact, I can't remember the last time I bought a new gun without selling something to offset the cost of said gun.

Get bored with one and want to try something new. That is why i sell.

Saying it a different way this time...I have guns that I'm bored with also, and I choose not to part with the functional firearms simply for that fact. If I want a new one I just get it.

Feels like this statement might or could be perceived as one of financial wellness, and it's not intended to be as such. I suppose my mentality is more along the lines of just getting another one, rather than getting rid of any of them. Outside of that, I don't have any more to offer on the idea and just was curiuos….and I'll say Thanks.

Lot of different factors, one being the safe is full, another being I picked up a Springfield omega and have a couple others in 10 so I was trying to evaluate what to keep or not. When I was in Arizona where private transfers didn?t need a bgc, I sold some just because I didn?t want to clean them

Have you shot the Omega? I was looking at those and was afraid I wouldn't shoot it for fear of breaking it.
