Just saw a blurb on 7 News about their "360" segment they will be "discussing" Red Flag laws for Colorado.
Probably worth watching and paying attention to.

It's probably a done deal and we won't have thing to say about it !!!
Will sail through on party line votes and Polis will sign ASAP. Will be just like 2013 . . . they're not going to let their majorities go to waste.

The 2019 measure doubles the amount of time that a judge would have to consider appeals ? from seven to 14 days for the first hearing after a person?s weapons are confiscated, and from 182 days to 364 days the amount of time the judge would have to decide whether to return a person?s weapons who was deemed an ?extreme risk.?
But the burden of proof lies with the person whose weapons were taken in this year?s measure and the mental health aide working with them.?

Surprisingly, it?s not as Draconian as I thought it?d be.

I heard they are using Deputy Parrish's name for the bill. I hate politicians who stand on the graves of the deceased to promote legislation.

...for now. Once they get it passed, they will likely amend it and change it to be "more draconian".

622 is NOT a majority of republican voters. Besides that, who knows what other types of questions or methods they used to get the desired answers they were looking for. For all we know the participants selected for the survey could be registered Rs of whom donated money to the league of women voters or some other anti-gun cause that the pollsters cherry picked for their anti-gun survey in order to get the desiered opinion.
There is no way to really know other than to take the word of 9 news/NBC which has been on the bandwagon of the anti-gun agenda for decades.
I'm calling BS.

Yep, that's effed up.
Well Spurlock is in bed with the backers of the bill so there’s that too. I was glad to see Brauchler at least speak out against it. He addressed the apparent constitutional violation of innocent until proven guilty inherent in the bill. All a pissed off ex needs to find is a sympathetic judge and you’re screwed.

Or a neighbor making a call or 2 to the local LE. Being concerned about things they heard you say while in the yard.

This from the next AG who said in a house interview. He also feels Red flag laws are legal.
William Barr, Nominee for US Atttorney General has publicly stated that he feels the 4th Amendment is unreasonably restrictive upon the federal government. He says the Patriot Act did not go far enough in granting powers to the federal government!

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Every single red flag confiscation will be approved. No judge want's to be "the guy" that rejects a red flag request only to have the person go postal later.
The math is easy: Piss off one person or an entire city. Or county. Or the way the media works these days, an entire state or country.

I skimmed the bill and still don't understand how this will even solve the stated problems.
There is a hearing with fourteen days to respond but no guidelines on evidentiary standards. So yeah, this is going to be abused on day #1. If a Liberal family member calls and says I have a mental health issue from years back I now have to prove myself sane in spite of no criminal record, threats, or incidents.
Then order is in effect only for a year. So is the crazy person then automagically not a threat? This is not a permanent disqualification nor does it even resolve the issue! Put this in the context of people who have been known problems for years and you see the issue.
Where are the guns being stored? Will they be returned in same condition?
That's like saying, "Wow! The hangman's noose is made of a smoother rope than I'd thought it'd be!"
The other thing I thought of is... Okay, now LE has the tool they said they needed (even though they always had involuntarily confinement). As we continue to see mass shootings and casual urban crime that gets ignored, there will be another data point.
We all know DAs won't be hauling gang bangers in on this.

Many of the local news outlets keep replaying Rep. Tom Sullivan's passionate statements concerning his sponsorship of the current "red flag" bill.

I am sympathetic with his grief for losing his son.
I do not understand how this bill would have prevented the shooting at the Aurora Theater.

If only we had involuntary commitment abilities in Colorado, when a health provider realizes that someone is a danger to themselves and/or others or is gravely disabled.

More than a month before?James Holmes' rampage on a Colorado movie theater, the head of his neuroscience graduate program called a campus police officer with alarming information: Holmes had told his psychiatrist that he wanted to kill people to make up for his failure in science.
The call, never previously disclosed, came just after the psychiatrist expressed similar concerns to the same University of Colorado campus police officer. But newly released documents show the officer did little other than check to see whether Holmes had a criminal record and deactivate his campus access cards. And his psychiatrist declined to detain Holmes, who had revealed no specific targets or threats, because she thought it would only "inflame him."
No, I do not like the idea of the proposed law.

Not Draconian?
Elimination of the probable cause standard to seize personal property.
Issuing search warrants on a preponderance of the evidence.
Continuing to seize personal property for 364 days without probable cause
If this isn't Draconian I don't know what is.

Duh. My statement is based on our current libtard legislation session. I am in fact surprised that they included a paid lawyer to the victim (gun owner)and changed it to multiple reviews during the year vs one.
I?m by no way wanting to see this first step in ?desensitizing the public to gun confiscation? legislation passed. It?s total bs and I?m really getting tired of people using suicide, which was thrown around in the articles that I read, as an excuse for more gun control.

Exactly. Let’s also ignore the fact that he’s a big Union guy and has a history with the AFL-CIO (hrmmm, now what sort of folks do unions put out? “Unions are the trade schools of Communism.”- V. Lenin).
Using his son’s gravestone as a hard floor for a Constitution shredding tap dance is sickening.
I want to remind folks of what happened to the guns while in storage during the Katrina confiscation. If a person has one or two guns maybe not a big deal. If you are taking guns from my uncle or other older long time collector I'm not sure they are set up for such a seizure. I promise you they wont take as good care as you do. My other thought is, this needs to be linked to cars too. Especially after the kid that got text murdered by his girlfriend. This law is stink from top to bottom. I see no real upside. You almost need registration of guns to make it work. Otherwise you don't know if you got all of them.

Glad to see Brauchler change his mind. A year or so ago he and Spurlock did a town hall at our church and at that time they both were for it. Politics maybe?

He probably still supports it, just not in the public eye. He can pretend not to now since he knows it is going to pass anyways with or without his support. Last year we were dealing with a one vote republican majority in the state senate when he was in favor. Some aren't going to like this, but he's a snake in the grass in my book. He has taint on his face forever because of his drooling support for the blatantly unconstitutional bill a year ago.

On Netflix there is a show called "Dogs Of Berlin". The cops are fighting gangs and call their latest operation "Red Card". I think the .gov watches too much TV!
