Looks like benchmade knives decided to cut up some guns.
There FB page is blowing up with, no more buying BM stuff for me.
Apparently they helped the Oregon police department cut up some guns. The Oregon police department thanked benchmade for their help but quickly deleted it. But not fast enough for the Internet. Lol!

^^ Well isn't that interesting.

I've never owned, nor considered owning, a Benchmade knife. I've looked at a few and was just never impressed. Then again, I'm not much of a knife guy. But when I need a knife, Kershaw has always had what I needed at a very reasonable price.

Benchmade used to be an excellent knife, years ago that is. Now they're not much more than an average factory knife to me with insane pricing. Much better knives for the price and I fell away from them a long time ago. This is a firm point now in their corporate interests to let them disappear like Dicks and others.

I dont feel they are that good of a blade anyway, I have always been happy with my Gerber's for daily carry.

I have one that I used to carry. A mini Griptilian I think. Liked it well enough but switched to carrying a Zero Tolerance 350 that I really like. Got a smoking deal on it from a forum member.

The Benchmade will likely just sit and gather dust unless I feel froggy one day and decide to cut it up.

For anyone looking to get rid of their Benchmade knives, I will gladly give you $1 each for everyone that you have and want to get rid of or destroy and then you can take that money and donate it towards politicians that will vote for the knife protection act or other such legislation that you feel inclined to donate to.

I agree. If i boycotted anything, or one that had a left of center agenda. I'd have to sit on the floor of my house, twiddling my thumbs. But i might have to cut the thumbs off, since at some point in time a leftist stopped when we were hitchhiking .

People are literally upset that Benchmade cut up guns and gave money in the past to politicians that supported pro knife laws, some of whom may be full fledged leftists/socialists. In return some folks, (not suggesting any of the fine, upstanding, intelligent people on this forum), are so upset by this they won?t carry, buy, or use knives made by Benchmade, and are willing to destroy the knives they already own. Yet some of the guns destroyed were made by literal communists, (SKS?s and the like). Seems a bit, ironical.

As an outdoors industry company it is not surprising who they donate to.

As a hunter/outdoorsman and a shooter Both partys are at odds with what I believe. Dems are anti gun and Reps are anti public land. There is a big disconnect in the Republican party when it comes to the outdoors. They play lip service to gun owners and to hunters while at the same time they are for development via gas and oil of many prime hunting areas as well as they are for the transfer of public lands to private owners.

As an outdoors based company their main customer base are outdoorsmen/hunters and as far as what threatens their base goes it would be the loss of public lands and wildlife habitat. Why wouldn?t they have donated to Udall? He was for expanding wilderness areas and conserving the existing public lands.

Republicans need to end their love affair with selling off public lands and get in line with their hunting/outdoorsman base.

Public lands are what make America American in the first place. If you're dumb enough to only value something based on its economics, then you deserve a monarchy to keep you in place.

I agree with you Def90, though not enough to ever vote for a Dem, but I have opposed and chosen not vote for several Reps due to their attacks on public lands and lack of conservation values. A root of conservatism is conserve which demands a respect for and judicious use of the the natural resources that have been created.

I would point out that until recently the Democrat party had a strong environmental segment that generally opposed rapid expansion of our population that puts increased pressure on wild lands. I still have Dem friends, naturalists, hunters and outdoorsmen who are astounded by the current party push to fill the USA with aliens from countries whose cultures lack any environmental or conservation ethics, solely for selfish political gain. And they don't understand the push toward "progressive" Marxism when every Marxist society throughout history has substantially destroyed their natural systems to benefit their states elite party leaders.

I don't know why Benchmade donated to Democrat candidates but I suspect it has nothing to do with any supposed support for public lands.

I failed to take the date into context of this discussion, in 2012 things were different than they are now.

Daniel Defense also made contributions to the (D) in 2012, 2014, and 2016 - their contributions to the (D) decreased over time and in 2018 their contributions stand at 0 for the CPUSA.

Prior to 2016 the (D) was hiding their tyranny for the most part but after President Trump the (D) have revealed their open hatred of The Constitution, natural rights, and people like me. There is ample evidence for this and there isn't a reason in the world that any US citizen can't see and understand what the (D) has morphed into. There are only 2 reasons to vote (D), you're evil and support tyranny or you're so incredibly stupid that facts just bounce off you.

There's no such thing as sandal etiquette, duh. You wear the sandals, you order the Starbucks and you save the earth. That's all after the "Looking down on ICEholes" but just before the "How to win stoplight races gracefully against loud cars" section of the owner's manual.

That's the difference. They still hated you and me just as much as they do now. They just wouldn't say so in public. Now they do. Progressives are no longer trying to hide the fact they hate America, what America has stood for, what America has accomplished and her standing in the world. Now they're openly saying how they want to "transform" America into something else, namely a socialist/communist utopia, and if you oppose that you're the enemy. And that all really started with Obama's pledge to "fundamentally transform" the US.

What’s the old saying? “You don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.”

But seriously. It’s good business for the knife industry to try to tank guns. Stabbings go way up in nations that have strict gun control like the UK. And Benchmade wants to be on the forefront of the revolution in personal protection in America lol.

As i posted before, some corporate executive have WIN-WIN situation. They might personally like to support the republican for smaller govt and corp/individual taxes, they do support Democrats for playing with regulations, patents, etc.
If i was CEO of pharmaceuticals which is about to expire in patents, of course share holder comes first.
If republican wins, they win.
If democrats wins, they win.

Cant stand the Dems, or what the Kalifornians are doing to our state. However CO legalized auto knifes (switchblades) last year, under mostly dem control, just say'n. Love my BM autos, plus life time guarantee, lifetime sharpening, etc. Are they overpriced, probably, will/do I look at alternatives, definitely, but auto's are notoriously finicky, so the guarantee is attractive if you enjoy them (and use them). I suspect lots of pro 2nd Amendment companies support commies for strategic purposes, after all Ruger was a huge supporter of the Clinton AR/Mag ban and I'll bet 99% of everyone on this forum owns a 10/22. As others mentioned, I'm not completely dedicated to politically spending my $, however definitely take it into consideration. Unfortunately some states destroy ALL weapons confiscated, which I disprove of, others auction/sell them to raise funds. Either scenario could promote abuse/corruption and some people have issues with buying weapons that have been utilized in crimes.

Cheers,
Tim
