View Full Version : Best places to look for used guns in metro Denver?

Besides the trading post here, plus the infamous Armslist and less infamous (?) Gunbroker, where are some good online places to look for local used guns?

For metro Denver brick and mortar stores, it seems like the best places for used guns at decent prices are the Gun Room and Green Mountain, though the latter isn't as good as it used to be). Any other favorites for good selections of well-priced used guns?

Gunsport in Boulder has a terrific inventory of used guns. Probably more than Green Mountain.

Ahh, I forgot about Gunsport. Great selection, but prices normally higher than Green Mountain (at least in my experience from years ago; I haven't been in there in a couple years).

The new owner of Green Mountain seems dedicated to sales "gimmicks" way more than the previous regime- lots of "featured firearms", "special pricing" and "clearance" items.

Gunsport is terrific, GMG has quite few too.

What do you imagine the rent for that space in Boulder costs as compared to the rent for the space in Lakewood?

Gunsport owns their building, so no rent games.

Holy crap, is Scottie still around? I bought a gun from him in the early 1980's. In fact, it was so long ago that I'm pretty sure it was at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds - when they were at Windermere and Belleview (where Cornerstone park is now.)

Is he still on East Colfax?

Not sure I've ever gotten a better deal on a used firearm from a dealer than an individual.

Keep an eye out daily on here and Armslist until what your looking for pops up.

I second Green Mountain and Gunsport.

Gun Room owner is a flaming douche. Wouldn’t shop there if it was the only shop in state. Short story-had to threaten legal action to get my consignment check. That was a long time ago, maybe he changed but no way I’ll find out. I was close with the original owners, Bill and Lola, so maybe he held that against me. Don’t know and don’t care.

I have also got some great deals at the Firing Line in Aurora.

18th post and allow me to be the first to suggest that you may find some used guns at the bottom of some local lakes...at least I've read that is where many have gone over the years.

This x a brazillian.

Not faulting dealers, they've got to make money on each sale which means buy-low-sell-high.

But unless there is one specific hard-to-find gun that you want, IMO you're better off going through the various on-line sites.

If there's something specific you are looking for, post it up here, someone might have one they'd consider selling.

All hair-scaping aside, I'm not really looking for any one gun in particular. When I have some fun money set aside, I like perusing what's out there, and if something "speaks" to me as being a good deal and fun to shoot, I buy it. I've bought a lot from individuals and dealers, but with dealers, usually it's the consignment guns that I end up with because of the reasonable prices.

+1 for Green Mountain Guns. I bought a like new HKUSP 45 Tactical for well under even armslist pricing a few weeks ago there. Good deals can happen in a store from time to time.

I?ve purchased a gun from Scottie?s. Decent selection of WW2 and Milsurp stuff. Really the best I?ve seen in Colorado. That being said I?m not thrilled with the tattoo that the gentleman who runs the place has. It looked like a Nazi waffen symbol. If I?m wrong please correct me. I didn?t ask him to confirm that it was a Nazi piece, I just took my shit and left. I hope that I was just mistaken about it. If anybody knows for sure let me know as I?ve avoided giving him any more of my money because of it.

I’ve gotten great deals on consignments at GMG over the years, too. But the best was for a short time in the mid-2000s at the Shootist. Someone was buying new or used guns, shooting them a little, then selling them off at a huge discount each week it seemed. I must have bought 6 or 7 of his castoffs for dirt cheap. Like an HK P9S in .45 for $499.

Had you of asked him. He would have told you what it was and what if anything it represented. Much easier than fuming about it for days afterward.

I haven't been in for like 3 years, Scottie himself didn't do much in the store back then, probably even less now.
