I'm posting this in case anyone is interested!

Are you trying to find your way into the field of Private Investigations? Or are you seeking to change fields, but are not quite sure what you can do? Are you terrific at the process of investigations, but somewhat weak in other areas of business and marketing? Do you know someone that may want to be a PI, but are not sure about taking the plunge? Or do you want to sharpen your foundational skills?

If you have answered 'Yes' to any of these options, please consider the Colorado Investigative Development Institute (CIDI). CIDI is PPIAC's premier Basic Private Investigator course. Taught over 3 consecutive Saturdays in May (May 11, 18, and 25th,) this PI School is designed to assist novices to understand the introductory skills of investigations. Seasoned PIs can also benefit from CIDI's introductory course, especially if they have spent the majority of their time focused on a single skill.

Seating is limited, so please sign up quickly.

Here is the link to the registration: https://www.ppiac.org/event-3266664

The listing of topics and instructors are now up for everyone to see!

Questions? Comments Send them to training@ppiac.org .

Is this something that should be jumped into with both feet, as opposed to trying to do part time work as a supplement to other income?

No, there are plenty of people that work investigations part-time until they have things established. I mean, unless they're independently wealthy.

Is this something that would be recognized by LE if you made a move to be employed by them at some point?

How do I select the wealthy guy in Hawaii who is going to let me live on their estate for free and drive his Ferrari when he's not paying attention?

Law enforcement is a completely separate entity. I know there are states on the East Coast and a few in the midwest that hold a very close affiliation between PIs and LEOs; Colorado is not one of those. It would be looked at as any other type of job, I suspect.

On the opposite side of things, this class is marketed to LEOs that are retiring or leaving the job- many of them naturally gravitate toward investigations.

You'll have to get in line. And it helps to BE in Hawaii.

Do they do these classes during the winter?

This is our first school; we're hoping to hold a basic course in the spring and a more advanced course in the fall, eventually. We're holding them on Saturdays in the hopes that people working during the week would be able to attend. Of course that means that anyone working on Saturdays loses out, but at that point it became Hobbs Choice.
This summer there's also a hell of a conference shaping up- that's in the Springs this year.
