It happened again...
https://www.denverpost.com/2019/03/10/shooting-15th-market-street-denver/
Given the number of early morning shootings there over the past few years, you would think DPD would just stake out the whole block in the midnight - 6 am window.
Who woulda thunk that having a bunch of uppity hip-hop nightclubs clustered together would cause issues?

I read that article but saw this headline on the side:
Shoplifting suspect shot and killed by police at Park Meadows Mall...
I thought, based on the headline, police officers just decided to shoot the theft suspect. Imagine my surprise to find out that wasn't the case. What really led to the shooting was the suspect ran from the police officers and then pulled a gun on them. Then the police officers shot him. Who would've thought the Denver Post would print a misleading headline like that.
I was present for a shooting there once. It was 17th and Market. There was a stabbing the next weekend.
I was about to goto Ocean Prime for dinner next week.
I would probably have to wear level iiia and ar pistol to dine in there.

Well...that's what I did. Haven't been to LoDo in years. Haven't had any problems either.

One of our favs too! We've cut back and haven't been in a long time.
Denver obviously has an issue with casual crime/violence but the Dims will frame this in terms of "gun violence" and demand more gun control.

Sorry folks... crime, shootings & stabbings aren't anything new there. Doesnt anyone remember that area from 25+ years ago before they took out the viaducts & it was pre re-revitalization?!
Hoodlums went down there to see how many times they could get in a ruckus & still make it back home by dawn.
(Don't ask me how I know)

Yes and I remember the underground rave scene around Blake St. from before there was a Coors Field.
(Don't ask me how I know)
I also remember the legit gangs ran just about everything north of Colfax and east of Broadway. That has changed too.
Problem Denver has is with the financial resources and real estate, expectations are higher. And that has been the promise of Denver's political class. If the voters were asked for a Chicago reality then they should be plenty happy. But we all know they were sold the exact opposite.
I'm in a wonderful place near downtown Houston. All things considered it makes Denver feel pretty safe. They even restrict parking lot access at my hotel. You have to have a room key to get in and out of the parking lot.

It is all relevant isn't it. Regardless of how much crime and violence I've seen in Denver, it isn't even close to what I've seen in Washington DC in the 90's. New York City has always had pockets of crime, but it wasn't as out of control as some neighborhoods in DC. While no place is totally safe, if you don't use drugs and you don't buy or sell drugs, your chances of being involved in random violence goes way down. At least that is what I have learned over the past few years.
Be safe.

Same here. I haven't been there for about 5+ years.

That comment had me thinking about a filet Oscar Style all night.

Well I'm from Houston and I know that just isn't possible. Because you're still in Houston.
