View Full Version : Should we be upset, because I'm kinda pissed off at the moment???
Our daughter who attends Douglas County High School just brought this to us. I can understand why this would be offered but based on what she's said, this has been her home room class since 3/5 which was the return date on the form.
She may have gotten this before the class but no contact and no form should default to no consent.
Edit: This is a 15 year old.
Check all of the no boxes and send it in. See what happens.

Kinda confused, what exactly does the school want to do?
At the moment we don’t know much. From what our daughter has said it sounds like a group therapy session. The sessions started the first week of March.
My sister who is the Chatge Nurse at an inpatient mental hospital in CA said this looks very similar to the form they try to get new patients to sign.
I’m wondering where the notes from the counselor go.

Maybe call the school and ask what it is about?

That’s the plan. They probably wouldn’t appreciate a call tonight.
I think I'd mark everything "No" and send it back.
Did something happen at the school where they think kids need some counseling?

Absolutely zero chance I would consent to that.

Do a parent shadow the child day when it's scheduled. or do they no longer do / allow that?
Our daughter has been out of school for 18-19 years now. I can't tell you how many times back then we paid a visit to the school[s] due to some lwftist, group think, touch feely shit.
That would be a big no, from me.
Kids these days need to realize that their teachers are blowing them up, collecting their data, etc.

Sounds like a meeting with the Principal is in order
So no cover letter, explanation from the school or teacher?
Regardless, I'd be in the Principal's office first thing Monday morning with that letter and expecting some answers.
Moreover what effect does this have on future 2nd amendment rights?
If I brought home a letter like that when I was in school my parents would have asked me what it was I did to get in trouble.

Faulty form.
It has no option for "Fuck Off".
The Nanny State grinds steadily on.....
I think you can write that one in at the bottom.

It looks like the school wants you to sign over parental consent to them. Don't do it. Hang on to the slip and don't send it back. If they come a calling tell them to go get bent.

I wouldn't be a fan of the near total lack of context in which a medical consent form was provided, nor would I provide consent for my own child, but I actually do not object to the concept out of hand. The sad truth is that kids are under a lot more pressure than most of us were in their time, and not all of them are equipped to handle it. There are no doubt a lot of things to blame, including parenting, social media, etc... but if I were the school system, I'd probably find it easier to deal with the problem as it presents itself, rather than the world that should be. The sad truth is that some of these kids need psychiatric services, and school may be the only place they get them. The parents that read this thing all the way through and put some time and thought into whether or not to provide consent probably aren't part of the problem, whichever way they go.

I tried to get to the Allhealth website and could not. Sounds like a shitstorm is brewing. Psychiatrists are the witchdoctors of the medical profession. They will fuck up your life. Check the NO option and start attending school board meetings.

Posted by an RN that worked at Allhealth and posted this review in 2015...
"Horrible place to work. If you want to be placed in a position where your professional license is at risk, by all means apply here. The culture is hostile and unsupportive. The previous comments about the most incompetent employees promoting to the top are absolutely true. If you are competent, trustworthy, honest, and have good work ethic expect to be run out of the agency within six months. You will be bullied, lied about, and verbally abused. If you make any complaint about it, you will be ignored and very likely written up. The way they treat their patients is equally as bad. This was the worst place I have ever worked. Period."
Thanks for the replies, I'll definitely be getting a lot more info. There's no way we would approve this but the most concerning part is my Daughter believes it started in early March with no consent from us.

That would prompt a shitstorm.

I did some more research and found this link below. Seems pretty amateurish to me, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Or .02 cents worth

Can you say "orwellian".
Presidential elections will be fun in about seventeen more years.
"Candidate Commancho admitted he was a heterosexual by the second grade, and that he had once kissed a girl without her written consent. He indicated hyperactive tenancies and had trouble sitting still" -becomes- "Commancho is a hyped-up pedophile who assaults school children!"

Another post from Allhealth excerpted from "Glass Door"
"Great day of collaboration and discussion with stakeholders from the 18th Judicial District as we gear up for the launch of the Bridges Court Liaison program with new AllHealth Network staff including Ali Moaddeli as our Criminal Justice Administrative Officer. Thanks to Kally Enright, Ph.D., Todd Spanier, 18th District Court Executive, Shaun Clark and the incredible leadership by Jennifer Turner, Statewide Bridges Program Coordinator. The planning meeting was an excellent opportunity to prioritize where to start and to set ?pie in the sky? goals for the future of this much needed program to bridge criminal justice and mental health systems."
Sounds pretty scary to me. I am glad I am not a kid in this school system. I am thinking of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" at this point.
I would make 50 copies and send it to all the counselor, dean, principal, and superintendent of the school district.

Here is a link to their entire intake form. I'm surprised they didn't send the entire document. OK the truth is I'm NOT SURPRISED! I called their supposedly 24 hour acute care facility but only got an answering machine.

For themselves.O I C
I am outraged that they ask "Gender that the client identifies with" and only provide two options: "Male", and "Female".
Where the hell is "Sissy" and "Butch".

I'm honestly kind of torn. On the one hand, IMO consent forms should always default to "no" -- that is, the government/school must EXPLICITLY obtain knowing consent before invasive procedures of any kind. In addition, I consider most psychology (especially so-called clinical) to be voodoo at best and knowing malpractice in many cases (but don't confuse psychology with psychiatry ... IIRC, psychiatrists have to be MDs first and that tends to weed out most of the nutjobs that take up psychology to "understand" and translate their own mental deficiencies). OTOH, everytime we see cases like Newtown, many of us (including gunowners) cry, "it's not the gun's fault, someone should have spotted the nutjob and done something about him before giving him access". How the heck is the school/government supposed to "take action" when the nutjob and his/her family-in-denial refuse to provide consent?
I think, perhaps the better solution is to be teaching the children themselves heavily about the brain, how it works, and about (some) of the psychology issues. It's almost as important, maybe even more so, than civics and finance which are also missing in education.
Teach them:
Where personality originates (frontal cortex) and various studies surrounding that, dating to the historical guy that took a rod to the head.
What the personality disorders are, people with them aren't crazy and can blend in. What the symptoms are.
*WHY there are the personality disorders* (it's a brain defect, not childhood trama, you're not going to fix it girls)
Cognitive Dissonance and how they can overcome it.
Basic mental illness information (bipolar, depression, schizo-affective, etc.)
What to do when classmates display many of the issues.
I think this would have a MUCH bigger influence. Running 100% of students past "Psychologist/counselors" is retarded. It IS a crock science and almost anyone can fake that long enough to make it. Moreover almost all of those employed in the profession are little more than book studied, and there's been actual controlled studies that demonstrate psychology to be a crock of shit. (e.g. double-blind, going to multiple places with the same symptoms, etc.). You really have to be around someone awhile to know what's wrong with them. Surveys and a couch for 30 minutes doesn't cut it.
On the other hand, your school age peers will always know something is off, some will just refuse to acknowledge it (dissonance) and almost all have no understanding or way to describe it. So... start there.
