View Full Version : When you're waiting for a package...
How many times will you refresh the tracking number page?

I?ve grown rather patient as I get older. Sometimes I don?t even track things and just let them show up unexpectedly.

Only if they are later than the normal time they are in my neighborhood do I refresh it after I find its out for delivery.
This one is ambiguously delayed and it's something I really want to show up.
I?m kinda like Ray sometimes , And others I?m kinda crazy about it.
I just drive myself nuts so I try to forget about it.
The more you want it. The longer it will take. (Or feel like at least )
Amazon had ruined us for shipping times I ignore most things over 4 days shipping on eBay
Got a box from amazon today. Knew it was coming. Figured it would be here when I got home.
Nope.
But here's the kicker... while I'm going about my evening business, I here an alert on my phone from my front porch cam. Without even looking at the phone, I go to the front door and see someone pulling out of my driveway.
The package was right by the front door. No knock, no doorbell, nothing.
WTF? How about a little notification. Not so much as a "delivery confirmed" email over 1.5 hrs later.
Sent from somewhere...
Mine isn't e even coming to my house. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow at this point. Initial estimate was yesterday.

Anyone remember “Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery”???
That was back when there were flip phones, right?

"Send $17.99 check or money order to: Box 17M, Denver CO 8####, please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery"
Waaaaay before "mobile phones" of any kind.

Oh, yeah. Sears catalog, baby.
The Seats catalog was the internet before there was the internet.

If i sent a 3 day flat rate out of the post office here, tracking shows it "in transit" every fukin time. I ask the p.o exactly where in transit is it? Umm we don't know till it's scanned or delivered [facepalm]. Yet i can drive 25 mi in to prescott and the package shows up on day 4 or 6, depending. It's like NAZ is the twilight zone of mail service.
Yeah it's somewhere. Like i need a tracking # for that useless bit of info.
So i'm going to start paying a little more for fedhex or BBT and see what happens.

Son gave me a heads up that he had a package coming to my house. Called me and said he got an e-mail from Amazon that it had been delivered and resident had signed for it ???? It was on a porch that has a sign on it "please deliver all packages to driveway side porch". It was there overnight since I had no idea it was on that porch.Well done Amazon driver !!!
So, it it comes in today, I get to come by and pick it up to test right? Haha

US Cavalry catalog when I was overseas in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Getting a money order, filling out the form and then mailing it out. Then waiting and waiting aaaaand waiting then you get the slip in your unit mailbox......but the mailroom is closed because it is Friday after 17:00 now you have to wait until Monday!!!! Yeah baby, that’s the way it was done!!!
A whole lot has changed over the years for sure. For me it's worse because USPS told me it'd be here on 4/2 and once that expectation was set in my mind that's what I wanted. Time goes more slowly every hour after that initial expected time passed. I'm hoping that tomorrow I can reply to this thread with a YAY!
