They are staying off of 225 and 25 and I do not know that end of town to well. Not really looking for a national chain but something with more "local" character. Any suggestions?

Shanahan's is near there
New York Deli News is just north of there on Hampden

What kind of food do they like?

- The Bagel Deli off Hampden & Monaco has some awesome (and huge) food
- The Tavern DTC is good for pub experience/food
- Tocabe off Arapahoe & I-25 is like Native Amercian Chipotle . . . the fry bread dishes are great
- Piccolo's off I-25 & Hampden has good Italian and Mexican
- Steakhouse 10 on Hampden (closer to Broadway) is great if you want fancier and not chain
- Doug's Day Diner is great for breakfast or lunch

Big Bill?s NY Pizza (County Line & Holly) for this reformed Jersey boy (thankfully my parents moved to Arizona when I was 12 LOL) its the best, most authentic NY pizza in the metro area. I know the owners of the Bagel Deli, best corned beef around. NY Deli best pastrami and cheesecake:D

Also Big Bill (former NY boy & Denver Nuggets trainer) gives 100% of the money on 9/11 to the Orphans and Widows fund-customers pay whatever they want, Bill is a great and charitable guy.

They are from Houston so Papadeaux is out as far as desired food since thats all over Houston. I don't know desired food style that is left hanging on me so no raw fish for sure. Last year I just took them to Hacienda Colorado on Church Ranch and the Turnpike and Beau Jo's Pizza in Idaho Springs

I?d take them to the Viewhouse.

Or give them the full blown Denver experience and take them to Casa Bonita.

Yardhouse? The Lindeman's Framboise is only 2.5%, but makes a nice pairing with one of their steaks without getting too tipsy. Plus, it's a block or two over from 16th street, so they may get to witness a schizo, drugged out fight or freakout.

I?d take them to the Viewhouse.

Viewhouse has one of the best layouts and views in the metro area (we've been to the downtown Littleton one a few times), but their food has never really impressed me, especially when a kids dinner cost almost as much as a regular entre. Wife and I will go there for drinks, but we've scratched them off the list for food.

Undici is another good one. Not incredibly expensive. If you do pasta, definitely do the homemade variety.

If they're from Texas Brothers BBQ will be insulting. Buckhorn has good ambiance, but it's kind of like the Casa Bonita of *wild game stuff as far as price vs quality in my opinion.

*no, I don't know anywhere that has better game meat.

I'll second New York Deli News. I recommend the Pastrami Ruben. Lucky #13 on the menu.

Also, whenever I'm up in the area I pick up a loaf of their Rye bread. It's awesome.

Forget the NY deli news. Do the Bagel Deli , their corned beef sandwiches are amazing. So's the line @ lunchtime.

AND they sell YOO HOO chocolate drink.

The Piper Inn (https://piperinn.com)(2251 S. Parker Rd.) fried rice like my mom used to make! Great wings (try the Asian) and cold beer.

Also the Pastrami sandwich with egg salad on top is pretty freaking good...

Central, not south end, but pretty close to 25 & 225 is Bonnie Brae Tavern. Great pizza and wings, been a Denver institution/local favorite for decades.
