Could the Big Bang be Wrong? (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/outthere/2019/06/15/could-the-big-bang-be-wrong/#.XQhAQ7xKiUk)http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/outthere/2019/06/15/could-the-big-bang-be-wrong/#.XQhAQ7xKiUk
This question comes up all the time in public forums and on social media. In most cases, it seems rooted not so much in misgivings about the science as in misunderstanding of what the science is. Any meaningful answer therefore has to begin with a crucial piece of clarification: The Big Bang means two quite different things depending on who you are talking to.
In popular conversation, the Big Bang is often used broadly to mean the mysterious primal event that created the universe, and it commonly envisioned as a tremendous explosion emanating from a single point. (To be fair, popular articles and illustrations often reinforce those ideas with oversimplification and confusing language.) But that is not what cosmologists mean by the Big Bang.
One key point is that the Big Bang was not an explosion of the kind any person has ever witnessed. ?This is a hard concept for people to get their heads around,? says Wendy Freedman (https://astro.uchicago.edu/people/wendy-l-freedman.php), a veteran cosmologist at the University of Chicago. ?The first thing to get rid of is an image analogous to a bomb?which is our first tendency to imagine, and which is wrong?where you have an explosion with matter that flies outward from a center. This is not what happens in space. The Big Bang is an explosion of space, and not intospace. There is no center or edge to the explosion.?

I like these types of articles.
Still more bigbang guys than quantum univ astrophysicsts and theoretical side.
Even before 1999, quantum and big bang was in undergrad astrophysics course.
Most of physicist cannot even relate/link gravitational, eletro-magnetic, weak and strong n forces in modern level.

I would rather get into centrifugal force debate than Big Bang/Quantum Univ. [Coffee]

Just for you, since you mentioned it the other day.

Thanks to those 1700s-1800s physicists/mathematicians , it made my Fr to Sr years really damn miserable.

Science is the definition of units. Math is the accounting of units. To understand the universe, you have to do the math. I admit I am not fully fluent in the math. Does anyone here fully understand the octonion system?

Funny that the show BigBang Theory had not much to do with BigBang, except Stephen Hawking was on few episodes.:D

I don't see the same division of math and science that you do, and so don't ascribe the same importance to math (despite being a mathematician). But just as the real number system that we use is not fully-understood, the octonions are even less so.
Each of the given number systems is a special/limited case of the subsequent. The associated physics "applications" for the given systems strike me as subjective and oddly faith-based. In the same vein, I don't believe there to be anything special about octonions, and in my own faith-based extension, think the entirely possible to extend ad-infinitum. After all, the sedenions are right next door.
We got to the moon without 3D CAD, we do movement/speed modeling without 4D CAD, and we do energetic and gravitational work without whatever-D tools. The ordering and naming of dimensions we choose to incorporate into our world is totally arbitrary, and you can get pretty damn far without getting too fancy.

I got to complex analysis in college, but I don't remember if we even touched on quaternions. Definitely didn't see any octonions.

I can balance my checkbook.
I can balance my checkbook.
I can balance a motorcycle, as long as it's moving.

Better than Quicken can I'm sure.

Isn't that stupid Hamiltonian mechanics, quantum crap and I j k hat junk?
That class also mess my head with econometrics; where they use same symbols but means totally different thing.
Learned those on intro theoritical physics and got a D on it.
The professor who was teaching that class during 95 is still with department of physics. It is just too damn much for average Joe 18-19 year old to take.

I've been DVR'ing all the episodes on Dish.
It's just infuriating that Dish can never seem to get episode numbers right.

Crazy, isn't it? Sometimes my recordings are organized in the wrong seasons or located in the root of the folder.

Yes, crazy.
The techie in me wonders how much of it is crap data they get from the channel, bad data mapping, or just plain dish fuck ups. Probably a little of all of it.
