One of the things I figured with a solid "D" majority in our state would be they would try to repeal TABOR so they can shove new taxes down our throats.
And here it is: https://www.cpr.org/news/story/full-tabor-repeal-can-proceed-colorado-supreme-court-rules
The Colorado Supreme Court on Monday gave the green light to a proposed ballot measure that would fully repeal Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights.
This state is sooo very dicked.
Really hope I get an OOS job offer soon.

AZ is always hiring. Doubt it's the pay scale you're use to in CO.
So glad that moving out of here is on my short list!
I really should start looking for work out of state.

Well they didn't get their tax increases approved in the election, so they need to approve them without the consent of the people.

Interestingly enough, many of the libtards I argue with on the KRDO comment section are actually opposed to overturning TABOR. So I'm not 100% convinced that they'll 1) get enough signatures to put this on the ballot and 2) if they do, get enough votes to pass it.
Well they didn't get their tax increases approved in the election, so they need to approve them without the consent of the people.
This is going to the ballot though, right?
All the Court said is that it can go on the ballot which, as long as requirements are met, has always been a risk to TABOR. It's a risk to gun rights as well but isn't attempted because it would never pass.
It's been a long time since we've seen a state issue directly raise taxes and get passed. C & D were passed to prevent this (lies!) and those were an end to rebates, not a tax "raise" as campaigned. In the last cycle Amendment 73, Prop 109, Prop 110, and Prop 112 all failed. These would have directly/indirectly raised taxes.
I'm surprised they are going this route and am fairly confident it will fail. The kind of Liberal we have here in CO is the hypocritical kind--she isn't going to raise her own taxes. The "independent" voter has buyer's remorse whenever the elected Libs venture from social issues into fiscal issues, count them out. On principle Libertarians like that gov has to ask for more revenue so I doubt they would support it.
This is going to the ballot though, right?
Yes, and thankfully they need 55% of the vote since it is a change to the constitution...so glad we approved that one.

If I had to give odds, I'd say they'll be lucky to get 25-30% to vote for it if they can get it on the ballot.
They want 'the government' to pay for stuff. They don't want to pay for it.
Anyone who votes yes to anything that will raise the amount of taxes they pay is an absolute idiot.
My theory is that well over 50% of the population is idiots so it could actually have a fighting chance if it hits the ballot. Hopefully my theory is way off base and the overwhelming majority is smart enough to vote down anything that makes them poorer.

We need more rainbow crosswalks...
The demonrats will spend many, many, millions to get this to pass. The adds will make TABOR sound like the worse thing ever conceived by man. They’ll say it’s the scourge that prevents them from doing wonderful things “for the children”.
Demonrats are incapable of operating within a budget. Now that they have all the power, they just need all your money.
The sad part is a large number of people will be willing to give up there right to vote on tax increases and allow other people to make that decision for them.

Well damm.
We just bought a townhouse in Arapahoe Co and with a baby on the way we aren't going anywhere.

But you bought ... so you're actually in a good position.
Democrat policies will drive housing prices through the roof in this state (we're already seeing the impact of their policies now, mixed with the massive influx of people moving here from deep blue, and thus even more expensive housing markets).
So you can expect to see a big return on that investment in the next few years so should you decide to relocate you'll be leaving with a golden parachute.
In the markets we're looking at, with the equity we've accumulated we'll be able to pay cash for a house as nice or nicer than what we have now here in CO. That wasn't true 3-4 years ago.

Thank you for that gut laugh.
At least polis seems to be against repeal.

If your following the Colorado Springs Parking meter, bike lane, land swap and selected business incentive or tax rebates and road design dialog, the government wonks have taken control of government.
Voting is a waste of time when the local elected leadership is corrupt, stupid and controlled by outside forces.

I'm just saying they are paying $30K plus for a crosswalk that should only cost a couple grand at most and only use white paint.
Never underestimate the stupidity of idiots in large numbers.
The polling booth is a demonstration of idiots in small numbers. Specifically one at a time.
The reason we call it virtue signaling is because the signal itself is they have.
That's why this won't work. Now, if it was the state house, look out!!!
At least polis seems to be against repeal.

He's against this process because, like the oil and gas bill, the state will get a strong message from the folks/negative mandate. He'd rather "fix" this in the House where they can stage hearings, pretend they care, and then just force their will on the state.

I call BS since he supported legislation the voters rejected last fall. His "support" of the voters deciding is total BS; what a lying POS.

Sorry, I do tend to sugar coat things a touch.
I hate being right sometimes. I called this as soon as the election results came in. My only surprise is it took them this long to make their assault. Once TABOR is gone, they'll have all the money they need to begin all out socialization of the state, starting with the same "common sense" horseshit that we're seeing in Commiefornia: draconian firearms restrictions, forced conversion to EVs via regulation and taxation, "renewable energy" at 3x the current rates, you name it.
The communist/socialists/big government/progressives have been attacking Tabor since it's inception, but is has proved hard to overturn.

As others have stated, leftists want to spend other people's money, not their own. Hopefully the PR machine against this will be strong and ask the question, "Do YOU want YOUR taxes to go up at the whim of some politician or do YOU want to have a say on how much YOUR government takes from YOU?" over and over and over and over....
