View Full Version : New Theory Suggests We Live in a Gigantic Higher Dimensional Black Hole
https://themindunleashed.com/2019/06/universe-higher-dimensional-black-hole.html
A team of astrophysicists have put forth a theory suggesting that our entire universe exists inside the event horizon of a higher dimensional black hole.
Cool.
Trying to reason this out would give an aspirin a headache.
I'm leaning more toward a computer simulation.

Threads like this serve to remind me how insignificant I am in the great scheme. I have no idea what was said in that article even though I read it twice, parts of it three or four times. I don't have the mind for that sort of complicated thinking.
[LOL]
It's easier to just believe in God than have to create these theories to explain the discrepancies in the previously accepted theories. Requires less faith and you get free coffee/casseroles on Sunday.

May be why I like dogs so much. Their world is a simple place. They need to eat, drink water, sleep, poop, pee. Throw in a little play time, a belly rub or a car ride and nothing else in the world matters.

100% agree and the math backs it as all but guaranteed. But fear not, a couple scientists declared it impossible because of the uncertainty principle and the resources required to simulate the exact positions of electrons.
Of course, he we are just 80 years into computer development and not far away from a 300 qbit computer which could simulate every atom in the universe. And ofc, if they knew anything about simulation, they'd understand you don't need to simulate certain position at all. If something is uncertain, you simulate it being uncertain. I love how their minds are so confined they think only we could simulate us too (ancestor simulation). Reality is, we have no clue what the real reality is, or what the rules are there. Us trying to disprove simulation premised on our physics (and just 80 years of computer development out of a possibility of millions of years....) Is confoundingly, utterly retarded. No different than characters in a video game announcing they can't be simulated because they don't have a "simulation spell" in their rules of "magic"

LOL.
As long as I can take my phone/tablet with ear pieces, I like that.
Sometimes those sermons are far worse than listening to those Astro & Theoretical Physicists. [Peep]

[panic] We only have 11 or 10 years left anyways
The universe is infinite, it has long been surmised that the universe has an infinite number of galaxies and black holes and inside each black hole is yet another infinite universe.
"Everything from nothing"
"That's not scientific!"
"Everything from something" *construction of complex and untestable theory*
"Okay, what is the something from?"
"Nothing"
"That's not scientific!"
(repeat ad nauseam)
Whatever it takes to try and explain that our existence is just some sort of coincidence.
I think I'll re-read Douglas Hofstadter. Good stuff.

Where are the mushrooms? If I only had some I could remember how I figured all of this out for sure 25 years ago. (while watching "2001: A Space Odyssey". Still one of my favorites of all time)
Edit: now I have to watch it.
