View Full Version : Any website developers on here?
I need a new e-commerce website for my dinosaur puzzle business. Not a complex project, but way beyond my capabilities.
Anyone here got a connection?
I'd skip right to the top, and offer it on Amazon.
No sense on building out your web site, when you could attack Amazon's customers.
It seems to me like you need to really be prepared for demand, and have each part down to it's minimum.
I would love to invest in your project.

Yeah, do you need/want investors?
iego is probably right. Make sure you have packing and shipping figured out for initial orders. If this goes big then Amazon offers stocking and shipping for a cut too.
True eCommerce is more of a pain than most people realize. You have to integrate with all sorts of payment API's - most of which your customers aren't going to use (pay-pal, square) and if you want a real merchant account the integration will take a lot of time and the fees will be insanely high... think like 5-10% of revenues for a small business. Custom is crazy expensive, while commercial solutions branded with your logo are more affordable and easier to setup, but usually insecure as all hell and common vectors for broad hacking attacks left and right. You also need HTTPS in that equation.
So... if you weigh your options and want it done, budget about 400% of what you're thinking on the high end, and then double it. It's a pain to have it done properly; most people think it's super cheap/easy. If you want it cheap, then just make a normal website and link to your products on ebay or something. Amazon has pretty steep fees, but it is an option. With your big stuff (that probably sells for a bit) I'd really consider just letting Amazon handle fulfillment.
I appreciate you guys who have asked about investing. At this time, this business is well within our capabilities to fund.
My wife and I do web development, send me a pm if you'd like a consultation. We'll sit down talk about what you want and then you can decide what you want going forward. The previous commens are correct about things getting expensive but there are lots of different options.

Glad to see you moved forward with your dinosaur models.
Soon we'll be saying,
We knew him when.
