View Full Version : Ahh..whats wrong with Golden
Woke up early to start the smoker. Have to have ribs for my moms birthday today at 1:00. I get the smoker going with a fire....hear some coughing. Think damn I can hear the neighbors that clearly huh? I hear it a few more times. In and out the door several times waiting for my temps to come up. I hear it again.....and see well enough to make out someone camped out in my front yard. Back in the house for the flashlight and protection. Go out and this guy is curled up under a blanket. Pull it back about the same time I put 500 lumens in his face. Nobody I know. He thinks Im the cops....this isnt the first bright light in his face. He starts with the sorry sir and I start with get the fuck off my property. What happened to the west side of town? Guy had shit spread out in about a 10 ft area. Took him a long ass time to gather everything and ride off on his bike. This much stupid shit didnt happen when I lived in Aurora.

Okay, this is an example for the thread about moving out of the city.
Then, you only have the wild bears, coyotes, wolves, deer, and elk camping in your yard leaving their signs behind.

Pretty simple- Golden is playing catch-up with Boulder on virtue signaling for "unhoused" compassion. You should have invited him inside your privileged home for some warm herbal tea and comforting soup.

I was standing in line a couple weeks ago and overheard part of a conversation about how the city of Denver
has been exporting it's homeless population to the suburbs in an attempt to solve it's homeless problem
by making them someone else's problem.
Apparently it was discussed somewhere on NextDoor, for what that's worth.

Right?! The "unhoused" are becoming another protected class as seen in places like San Francisco and Seattle. We're supposed to allow them to do whatever it is they want to do - whether it be on public or private property. Soon we'll be required to post signs in our yard saying "No Tresspassing" because, well, it isn't just assumed anymore. Even that will only last so long before private property rights are removed as just another fascist mechanism.
It used to be that we called these people "bums" and ran them off and were free to humiliate them for their poor life choices. Now, we just embrace them and their choices and WE become the pariah for not showing them compassion and taking them to the ATM to give them our last dollar while they turn our communities into the slums of New Delhi.
If the do-gooders really wanted to fix the homeless/"unhoused" issue they'd quit feeding the bears. By enabling the behavior we've only made it worse.

"Unhoused" = Unhinged

They hop light rail to Lone Tree on a daily basis. I guess the handouts are better in the 'burbs.
Right?!

This 100%. When I see an able bodied male begging at an intersection and then someone stops to give them money, I want to scream "Stop feeding the bears!".
Starvation is a great solution. Either the bums starve to death. One solution. Or they realize starvation sucks and they change their ways and start earning their money like other useful members of society. The preferred but less common solution. Either way, the problem solves itself over time if people quit interfering with natural selection.
I realize some people really are homeless due to circumstances beyond their control (usually mental illness). But let's be honest, the vast majority of the beggars are simply lazy parasites who refuse to earn their way through life. I have no compassion for laziness. I have seen the able bodied begging right in front of businesses with 'Help Wanted' signs while playing with their cell phone. Give me a break.

Visitors to Golden can travel from Denver and DIA to Golden via the West Rail Line or “W” line.
The West Rail Line between Golden and Denver Union Station passes through 3 fare zones, so the price for a single, one way ticket between Golden and Denver is currently $4.00.

Boulder indeed does a lot of virtue signaling but when it comes to that sort of thing, uh, no...they don't invite them in because they hate the poor. One only needs to look @ the legislation & infrastructure.
Remedied with a bus/train ticket to Golden.

As if the bums pay for tickets....roflmao
You get rid of institutions and vagrancy laws...and this is what you get. The "War on Poverty" is a hoax. There has been, and always will be, "poverty".
A lot nicer than I would have been. He would have woke up being soaked by the garden hose until he removed his worthless self from my property.

I would have called the police and filmed it. Then we could at least had some entertainment for free.
That would have been a waste of everyone's time because I doubt the police would have done anything.

I cant wait. I mean with a light rail platform 75' from my fence line I have all sorts of shenanigans to look forward to[facepalm]
Just remember, there's cities in America, right now, that have granted transients "the right" to camp pretty much along any road easement - including permanent transient encampments right in front of your house, shitting in your lawn, talking to your young kids, with nothing you can do about it.
Not only that, but one or more municipalities in CO have tried to recently pass those same "rights".
It didn't pass... this time. But they'll just end up doing it by municipal action, most likely, without a vote.
As they say..... Coming soon to an east slope city near you!

The Boulder area has a strong activist network for the "unhoused", whether it's out of ignorant compassion or direct pecuniary benefit via taxpayer funds directed towards the homeless industrial complex. Both groups have hoodwinked the gullible City Council (sound familiar?) into thinking they can "make a difference". Instead, they just attract more scumbags with permissive ordnance enforecement, favorable services, and liberal cash cows who respond to cardboard sign solicitations. Coming soon to any area controlled by progressive D's.
Oh look, there's even a legislative bill introduces this session, watered down to appear more palatable:
https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/hb19-1096
They'll introduce one each cycle until it passes.
ETA: And if anyone thinks I'm exaggerating, here's the bill text:
(7) "PUBLIC SPACE" MEANS ANY OUTDOOR PROPERTY THAT IS4 OWNED OR LEASED BY A STATE OR LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY OR ANY5 PROPERTY UPON WHICH THERE IS AN EASEMENT FOR PUBLIC USE.
The only real prohibition is they couldn't block your driveway. Oh, and if you "treat them unfairly" they can sue you for "violatin' their rights". Isn't feels' just awesome.
ETA2: If a bill like that were to pass, a transient might be able to argue that the mere existence of an easement on a parcel grants them right to camp anywhere on the property - even where an easement does not cross. "Any property upon which there is..." is vague enough to only assure exclusion of properties without any public (road) easement. They probably wouldn't win... but if the judge was a SJW, then the rest of private property rights go *poof*

Hey OxArt- You are kidding yourself you think these developments are just an "east slope" thing. Regressives are rallying to make your area just as woke, starting with Durango, Telluride, Gunnison, and expanding from there.

Darn tootin'. With the closure of a homeless camp in Dubango there has been a noticable increase in the homeless population here. I heard a rumour along the lines of them being intentionally exported this way as Durango didn't want to deal with them. Telluride has long had housing issues. If the pattern of Montrose getting Telluride's overflow holds true it's only a matter of time.

We’re gonna need the POOP APP!!!
Ah Telluride... a few years ago a few buddies and I were eating lunch in a park, and a couple of homeless potheads kept asking for food or money. We all refused to give anything. They followed us to the trucks and kept harassing us for anything. That all stopped when we got to the trucks. I put the cooler in my truck, pulled out the AR and racked it, unloaded of coarse. Never seen a bunch of potheads scatter so fast. Never pointed it at anyone, but the sight of the scary black rifle worked. Didnt need it really since we all were CCWing.

Haven't seen one in my yard in Aurora, but parks and roadside, yes. Build them there own city on vacant land near DIA and get them out of our neighborhoods.
