Good time to be Sportsman's Warehouse.
Was mentioned in the El Paso Shooting thread since it was related.

Indeed but still way over priced. I wonder if they will still sell at same price?

Will they still sell me 9mm for my carbines? Or 22LR for my rifles?
What if I've got a T/C 30-30 pistol? Will they make me promise not to use 30-30 ammo I buy there in my pistol?
Meh. Never shop there anyway. Support your local small business instead.

Yeah, for T/C just about any caliber is a handgun round. 45-70 even.
I kind of miss my contender. I had a handful of barrels in really cool calibers like 7 TCU, 30 Herrett, 22 K Hornet, 300 Whisper, etc.
A friend of a friend had a lone eagle pistol chambered in 30-06. That thing would throw a fireball the size of a Volkswagen.

Probably sell the remaining stock at the typical price for a month or so, then clearance it out to get it out of their system. That would be my guess.

The days of online ammunition sales are numbered; and if you haven't purchased in awhile, we are getting taxed on all online purchases.

There exists a "Thunder" .50BMG handgun out there.

Walmart is discontinuing sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber, discontinuing sales of handgun ammunition and discontinuing handgun sales entirely in Alaska.
Short barrel rifle ammunition, huh?
What is a short barrel on a rifle? I have a Marlin with an 18 inch, is that too short?
A bunch of baloney. If you are going to stop selling ammunition, stop. Quit playing baby games by hiding your intentions in semantics.
What happened to honesty?

Another case of the media not knowing what they are talking about..

Walmart will stop selling all handgun ammunition and some short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber after clearing current stock. Walmart did not comment on sales of other caliber ammunition.
I think the big take-away is banning open carry in their stores. Seems like a good way to increase shootings on the property, I don't remember the last time I was in a WM and didn't see at least one gun on a hip. Way to become a shooting gallery WM.

This sucks, I get most of my ammo from wally world. Most of the time I dont have a few hundred dollars to mail order a case so being able to pick up a box or 2 for cheap was real nice for me. Buying ammo at wallys was one of the big draws for me now I will find other places to do our shoping.

Walmart to stop selling auto parts to prevent car accidents. Pretty funny read.

My dad went in today to the Walmart off Powers and Woodmen or Palmer Park in COS. Apparently some guy was buying out the whole case of ammo.

Why don't you just go to the gun store in Ault? That is a quick driver from you. Great friendly people. They are also owned by one of the bigger LGS here in town but I cant remember.

Haha, why? There isn't a shortage of ammo.

Ault is approx 30min from me. That shop has insanely expensive prices, they are owned by rocky mountain shooters supply. I will be doing most of my business with liberty arms, sportsman's warehouse, and scheels from now on.

I'm hoping that Walmart making this call is going to leave a bunch of excess ammo inventory at wholesale...and that they'll need to have a fire sale to clear it out. I'll be watching my favorite ammo suppliers closely over the next couple months. Some of them do really well buying excess inventory on the cheap and selling it at a nice discount.
Kroger Asks Customers No Longer to Openly Carry Firearms Into Stores (https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/kroger-asks-customers-no-longer-to-openly-carry-firearms-into-stores/ar-AAGLluj)
Monkey see, monkey do.
On Tuesday, grocery store giant Kroger has requested its customers not to openly carry firearms into its stores. The statement comes the same day as Walmart made a similar request, and three weeks after a second lawsuit was filed against the chain related to the 2018 shooting at a Kentucky Kroger.
The request was made in a statement Tuesday, where the chain asked that only law enforcement carry firearms into its stores.
"Kroger is respectfully asking that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores, other than authorized law enforcement officers," Jessica Adelman, group vice president of corporate affairs, said in a statement. "We are also joining those encouraging our elected leaders to pass laws that will strengthen background checks and remove weapons from those who have been found to pose a risk for violence."
"Kroger has demonstrated with our actions that we recognize the growing chorus of Americans who are no longer comfortable with the status quo and who are advocating for concrete and common sense gun reforms," she added.
Last year, Kroger stopped selling firearms and ammunition in its Fred Meyer stores located throughout the Pacific Northwest. Fred Meyer was the only Kroger-owned chain to sell guns. At the time, a Fred Meyer spokesperson said that sales of firearms generated $7 million per year.
Kroger's request that its customers not carry firearms into stores comes the same day Walmart CEO Doug McMillon made a similar request in a company-wide email.
"As it relates to safety in our stores, there have been multiple incidents since El Paso where individuals attempting to make a statement and test our response have entered our stores carrying weapons in a way that frightened or concerned our associates and customers," McMillon wrote.
"These incidents are concerning and we would like to avoid them, so we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores or Sam's Clubs in states where 'open carry' is permitted ? unless they are authorized law enforcement officers."
Kroger is also facing two lawsuits relating to the 2018 Jeffersontown shooting. On October 24, 2018, Gregory A. Bush allegedly walked into a Kroger Marketplace in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. According to Jeffersontown police, Bush previously tried to attack a predominantly black church during a service, but the doors were locked. Shortly afterward, Bush allegedly entered the Kroger and shot Maurice E. Stallard, 69, and Vickie Lee Jones, 67, in what is believed to be a hate crime as both victims were black, and Bush allegedly told a bystander "Whites don't shoot whites."
On August 7, Stallard's estate filed suit against Kroger, and one week later, Jones' estate filed its own suit. The two lawsuits both allege Kroger was negligent in allowing customers to carry guns into its stores, and because the chain had no policies to prevent shootings. According to the lawsuit, a shooting had taken place at the same Kroger store in 2007, and at least 20 shootings have happened at other Kroger-owned stores across the United States.
I used to have respect for Kroger taking the stance that they supported the gun laws where their stores were located. Now they've chosen sides.
Has anyone seen what antifa wound up doing in El Paso?

Given the general caliber of people I've seen open carrying in Walmart, I'm frankly surprised it took this long for them to come out against it.
I personally think open carry sets you up to being a target if there's someone that wants to wreak havoc with less resistance. The offender has the tactical advantage of picking the 'when & where' and you're forced into a reactive response. CCW has a tactical advantage.
I'll admit, I've open carried in Walmart and Sam's on occasion. Since my work clothes, gun, holster, and belt are all black, stuff just kind of blends in. Nobody seemed to notice. Ordinarily, I carry concealed, but sometimes forget to untuck my shirt before I go in.

I think this is a valid, if overblown concern. In all the years I've seen of people making this argument on gun forums, I can only think of one incident where someone tried to disarm someone open carrying.

I never said anything about disarming someone.

^^^THIS.
I've always stood on the grounds that if OC is the ONLY way you can legally carry where you currently are, then so be it, but have a damn good holster and training. Otherwise, CC is the preferred and smarter way to carry.

Sounds like something Dragon would do. When 22LR was so scarce I would see him in there buying his limit everyday.
I'm all for private property rights, but when a business is open to the general public, their right to forbid basic rights ends.
They should not be allowed to ban ccw or open carry if legal in public, unless they provide courthouse style security.

This only applies to cake bakers.
Personally, I believe a private business should be able to forbid whatever the hell they want. It's the government that shouldn't be able to forbid basic rights. It fires me up a whole lot more when I can't carry at the post office or face a felony than it does to be told please don't carry at Walmart or we'll ask you to leave.

For the last 10 years The wife and I have spent 1000$+ a month at wally world 3 kids are expensive. Some months like back to school, christmas and kids birthday months substantially more than a thousand. This month I spent 7$ at wally world on meds because I was to sick to drive some where else. I know a thousand bucks a month isn't shit to wally world, but if every one stops doing there shopping there I'm sure they will definitely notice.
This afternoon while I was doing laundry it occurred to me that Walmart is the only place in town that sells underwear...
The internet has an unlimited supply of underwear and you don’t have to even leave your home to get it.
