Out in Colorado Springs today I noticed at least one B-17 flying around....

It was sure looking cool looking, too bad it was not safe to take a photo.

Been watching aircraft all day from my deck. I don’t need no stinkin’ tickets.....

It was flying over Southwest metro area the other day.

I love the "warbling" sound of those big radial engines!

Just imagine what it must have sounded like when 500 of them were flying over all at once....

I can only imagine that was the most terrifying sound most Germans at the time had ever heard.

I imagine that sound came in second place to the sound of a herd of screaming cows

Air show this weekend. Old warbirds and an F-22 Raptor demonstration.

Saw on the news they have a PBY Catalina and B-25 Mitchell there.

I was just going to ask about this, saw something out of the ordinary lined up to land as I was driving on Powers.

With the sun and traffic I couldn’t look look long enough to tell what it was, and now the mystery is solved.

Thanks guys

Oh how my dad would have loved to see one of those birds fly again.
He started off belly turret, moved to tail gunner, and ended up 'crew chief' filling in spots where needed.

"His" B-17 had issues with the bomb bay doors....on the ground they worked perfectly...over the target they go down, but not up.
One of his fun extra duty jobs was to crank up the bomb bay doors over a small cat walk with a rope tied to him and his parachute.
Last thing you wanted to be is tail man charlie. He was in 8th Air Force at the time.

That was probably the CAF's "Texas Raiders" B-17, it was at Centennial M-Th this week.

Yup. That was it.

Saw it and a AFA Twin Otter (Twatter) flying some fingertip formation yesterday around noon.
