Wow. That's bold. I knew this state was in trouble despite their assurances that they would adhere to the second amendment.

It is the same thing with dirt bikes. They tied up all the land they could then went after emissions and noise. Now that electric bikes are becoming viable, it will likely trend to erosion control to stop recreation on public lands by anyone. That includes you, bicycle guy.

"Colorado AG joins others calling for background checks on ammo"

I predict this will go nowhere.


WASHINGTON - Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, along with 20 other state attorneys general in the U.S., sent a letter to Congressional leaders calling for either background checks or a firearms license in order to buy ammunition.

The letter, written Monday by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro and supported by AGs from mostly Democratic states, specifically shows support for legislation known as Jaime's Law. That bill, introduced in the House in March, would make it illegal for "prohibited purchasers" under federal law to buy or possess ammunition.

Jaime's Law, if passed, would make it so that individuals would "either have to be licensed to own a firearm or undergo a background check to purchase ammunition," states the letter from the attorneys general. The law is named after Jaime Guttenberg, who was one of the 17 people killed in a school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The move comes after an increased number of mass shootings in the past several weeks, including two in west Texas and one in Dayton, Ohio. However, the letter also says that "while mass shootings garner the most media attention, they represent only a fraction of the American lives lost to guns and gun violence." According to the Pew Research Center, roughly 60% of all gun-related deaths are due to suicide.

In the cases not related to suicide, Weiser and the other AGs say Jaime's Law would "add protections without infringing on law-abiding citizens' rights to own firearms, nor on states' rights to regulate firearms as they see fit."

The bill hasn't been advanced in the House since it was introduced in March. The AGs say they hope the House Judiciary Committee will consider the bill in the fall.

Colorado is a lost cause. I could take over my family's ranch on the western slope when I retire in six years, but I'm still getting out and starting over on a new piece of off-grid land. I was born here, and if it was the same place I lived when I was a kid; I would stay, but it's not. It's a steaming pile of shit now, crowds everywhere; a mass migration of out-of-state people, money, and BS destroyed it. As far as no where to go; it doesn't matter what "laws" were passed or will be passed. Wyoming has 5.4 million fewer people than Colorado's multitude of transplants all of who want to tell me what I can or can't do. Everywhere you go in this state you're standing in line. Going to what's left of our public land access is almost as bad as going to elitches. Unless half or more of the people leave and the outside influences cease, it's lost. I have absolutely no love for this place anymore, and I just want to get away from it as soon as possible.

I agree ... which is why if I end up moving to Rapid City I'm going to make sure I have more gun stickers on my car than I do now (currently there's a Magpul, NRA, Frontier Sportsman's Club and "#FreeKekistan").

Last week the "School Safety Committee" met in Denver. They talked about safe storage laws, AWB and expanded Background Checks. I couldn't understand the Expended BC, now it's clear. They may try it on a State level.
