Two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault and burglary? [Mad]
A terrified woman said it only took five seconds for a crazed man to break down her front door and start beating her and her husband with a baseball bat.

Trimble said Matthews was able to bond out of jail. Now, she's terrified to go home and uncertain what the future holds for her husband and their three children.
"A neighbor heard the attack and threatened to get his gun."
Don't ever threaten to do anything. Either get your gun and then handle the situation or walk away. Don't threaten anything.

Since it may have worked in this case I'm not going to monday morning quarterback the guy too much ... but this is why you always carry. If he'd have just gone home and got his gun and came back it might have been too late.

Doesn't make any sense, but this seems to be the norm. I googled this Matthews guy. A "Andrew Matthews" was arrested for burglary with a couple of his friends in 2013. Age at the time was 24 and this guy is 31. I just wonder if this is the same guy which would make it even more insane.

I called the DA and asked them what was going on. They said they did not expect him to be able to post the $250K bond, and were shocked when he did.

Even a little 22 caliber revolver could have changed the outcome of this assault.

I think also using a hollow core door as an exterior door would have changed the outcome of this assault.

Yeah, armed and ready.

Its my understanding that most bail bondsmen only require 10% to post bond ... so he had access to $25k (which probably warrants an investigation) but if he skips bail the bondsman will send someone real nasty after him who will bring him back in a lot of pain. So there's that.

I feel like an investigation for having money is a slippery slope, but I get what you're saying.

So there's that.Access to $25k is nothing. All you need is collateral, not actual cash. Could be a this guy, a family member or friend put up a lien on a home, or maybe this guy has a nice truck or other equipment.
The male victim was a contractor, perhaps this guy is as well? The article did say the male victim had been staying with the perp during a separation.
