View Full Version : Who Makes Rifle Stocks?

I have an old military Sharps Borchardt rifle that needs replacement wood. It looks like my best bet is to get new wood made. The people I have spoken with aren't able to do the 28" forearm. The Buttstock is broken and the only piece I actually have to replace, but I would like to get a new forearm at the same time so the wood matches.

Anyone have a suggestion on who to speak with?

I never did find anyone willing to make a 28" forearm. Luckily mine is in good shape.
I removed and cleaned up the butt plate some and sent it to CPA Rifles along with the broken butt stock. They are going to make a replacement butt stock, finish the butt plate and attach it to the new stock, and I will finish the wood myself. The lady I spoke with on the phone was pleasant and portrayed confidence this project was no big deal.

Anyway, just an update.

Glad to see you got this going, despite no suggestions from the hive mind.

Yeah, thanks. I'm glad I got the process started too. I'd like to get it put back together and see how it shoots after 140 years.
The 1878 Sharps Borchardt is a cool design.

CPA is who is working on the replacement butt stock. They were not able to do the forearm though.
