It's easier to grow a beard than shave.

Buy an electric trimmer to keep facial hair to a minimum. Unless you need or feel you have to be clean shaven. When i had to be clean shaved for wearing OBA's , or other PPE's, i kept some of those 10 pack disposable's around.

Schick
Walmart sells the Quattros.
Sometimes you can see a coupon in the weekly junk mail pile.

I follow Jim's approach. Periodically set the beard trimmer to '1' when I am feeling pretty bushy. Some quick work with the razor to trim it up periodically when I start developing a throat mane. Still using the same Mach 3 Gillette handle they gave me in 1993, and a pack of generic heads I've probably had for 5 years.

I like Harry's. They're at Walmart and lots of other places now. They're actually better razors than the Gillette and cheaper too.

I went on a week long out of state trip recently. Picked up a 5 or 6 pack of disposable razors at a Walmart for .97 cents. They work as well as the expensive shit for me. I only shave about twice a week, though, these days.

Years ago I invested in a double edge safety razor. With the crazy price of blades it has paid for itself over and over again. Blades are very reasonably priced.

Ditto, Harry's from Walmart. Great stuff.

Grow a beard, it will at least cut down on the amount you have to shave and how often.

I shave my head too, and the cheap disposables and expensive 5 blade razors clogged up too much. I do a bi-monthly shipment of 4 defender razors and really like them. I think it’s $8 for 4 heads but I hardly ever need to change heads.

Thanks fellas. I don't shave my face as it is, but I do like to clean up my neck every three days or so.

Persona red label double edge blades. Bought 100 and it came out to be $0.10 a piece.

I got a safety razor a few years back. Best razor I ever got. Got blades off amazon, didn’t pay attention to the qty. ended up with like 300 for 10$. Three years later I’ve used 4, but I also grew a beard

Yep. Wahl beard trimmer and a Braun electric for the neck and cheeks. Had a beard for most of my adult life, but I'm not a fan of neck beards on anyone, myself included.

Tim,

I needed to replace my Gillette Mach whatever after I found out what a toxic male piece of shit I really was.
Went with Schick Extreme3 after trying out a bunch. It’s green and black, disposable, and every bit as comfortable as the Mach whatever for cleaning up around my beard every day or two.
Saw some news articles this morning that Gillette has lost over 8 billion since the ad aired, and that the CEO was still standing behind the ad.

I'm going to go to a straight blade, of some sort, soon, as I punish the remaining Gillette blades I have.

I'm also changing my shaving cream, as it looks like Gillette is now copying, or owns, Barbasol.

Perio Inc owns Barbasol.

Proctor and Gamble owns Gillette.

Somebody should tell them that Gillette is infringing on their trademark, because the last can of shaving cream I bought, looks like Barbasol, but is Gillette.

CLASSIC DOUBLE EDGE SAFETY RAZOR from Walmart along with several hundred Astra double edge blades via Amazon. I normally use soap to lather up and shave before my shower.

I actually have a couple of older screw on safety razor handles. It takes an extra minute to change blades with these and they do cost a bit more than the $10 butterfly open cover from Walmart. The screw on handles are practically indestructible. The blades are so cheap and I normally get three or four shaves on a blade before I toss it or use it to clean vehicle glass before tossing.

Now having a nice pair of barber's scissors is good for a mustache and/or beard.

A flatlander like you doesn't need a real beard anyway. Up here, it's a survival prep. [LOL]

You'll probably nick yourself a couple times at first. I did. But once you get the hang of it, like someone on a straight razor forum said, you realize holding a deadly weapon against your face is pretty cool.

I used one for a while. It worked ok. I?d say it?s a bit more ergonomic than using a normal razor. I ran out of good blades and just kind of went back to my normal razor.

I brought myself one of those, and promptly realized it was harder than it looks. But I will likely give it a good, strong go, when my current stash of Gillette blades wears out. I drive those things to the stub... so it may still be awhile, even though I only have like 3-4 refills left.

But yeah, that's the plan. :)

I, too, am about to run out of Gillette blades. I've been following the thread and appreciate the replies.

Anyone know if any of the three brands recommended (defender, Harry's, and Dorco) have historically run kick-ass black Friday sales?
