Does anyone know of any stores/ranges that sell and/or rent gen 3 and gen 5 glock 19s and 17s in the Denver, Colorado Springs, or Ft. Collins areas (preferably around Denver)? Can't decide which to go with. If the gen 3 fits my hand and shoots well I'll probably go with it since it's cheaper and proven. If any one else has some input comparing the two gens, I'm all ears. I just have experience with a gen 3 G35, which shot very well for me.

5280 Armory?

Looks like they just have the 17 in gen 3 from their website rental photo list

Not sure any ranges would still be using Gen 3s, they have all moved on to Gen 4s and will likely switch to 5s when those get too beat up.

If you are trying to decide between the finger grooves and non finger grooves the non finger groove 5s are way better feeling in my opinion.

BluCore and Bristle one have a lot of rental Glocks. The rentals out at CherryCreek Shooting Center are all pretty worn out, they probably have some 3s.

Call RMSS in FTC, they might have Gen 5's avail for rentals

Try Shoot Indoors in Broomfield. I know they rent Glocks, just not sure which ones.

Looks like most of the stores rent gen 4s and 5s. Any reason to steer clear of the gen 5? I've heard many good things about the gen 3s

I was strictly a Gen 3 guy until Gen 5, now I do not buy anything else if it is avail in Gen 5.

I have a 19 and a 19x, they did take a few rounds to break in so they would shoot my low powered target RELOADS, but never batted an eye at factory ammo.

What made you prefer the gen 5?

I like the feel of the trigger, the grip, I run them with no backstraps and I like the texture.

I also like the slide finish.

the only thing that sucks is that I have quite a bit of Gen 3 spares, and am pretty sure they won't work for the 5

Do you think it'd be just as reliable as the gen 3's? I did hear they changed the timing on them so that they can be used with older mags with heavily used springs with greater reliability so that's good. Although the gen 3 has a single capture recoil spring, which many seem to prefer if the pistol gets real dirty.

The reliability with factory ammo has been just as good as my experience with 3rd gens.

Only issue I had was FTF with my weak reloads
