Not sure if this is the best section for this question, but here goes. I currently have an OSS Helix QD 7.62 in jail. I'll need to buy proprietary mounts for each rifle. I've never had anything other than A2 flash hiders on anything I own. I'm looking for mounts for a .223 AR and a .300blk AR pistol. OSS offers a flash hider, muzzle break, and comp mount here (https://osssuppressors.com/suppressors/accessories/).
I'd like opinions on which type of mount to get. Does it even matter with such light shooting calibers? Lend me some thoughts please.

At some point, I'm going to put a can on my hunting rifle in .308 or 6.5 creedmoor (haven't decided). With the larger caliber I was leaning toward a muzzle break, but again, no experience, so don't know if that is the best decision.

Thanks

IMO
If for a 223/556 AR with a barrel length over 10.5 inches, I would use a flash hider.
I only use comps on my 223/556 SBR’s to serve as sacrificial chambers for my suppressors.
I do use a comp on my 6.5 creed bolt gun with a 30 cal can.

That important info I left out. .223 is 16" barrel. .300blk is 10.5" barrel. I plan to get a mount for both, so ideally I'll hardly ever shoot unsuppressed.

I almost always go with the brake...they tend to be less obnoxious to me when I am shooting without the can on. Some of the flash hider designs have that strange tuning fork resonance that irritates me. Looking at their design, that shouldn't be a problem....its more the open ended ones like AAC.

I've had a few votes for brakes so far, and it makes sense to me. I hear flash hider if there is a chance I'll ever shoot indoors and unsuppressed, but the chances of that are about zero.

Also, I've looked several times, and while looking for stuff pertaining to OSS is a bit of a crap shoot in general, I can't find a single review of their mounts. I appreciate the input so far.

I run more muzzle brakes than flash hiders. If you have a can, you don’t care about a flash signature. People shooting next to you with a MB will give you the stinky eye, but who cares.

Plus one you shoot suppressed, you will not like shooting unsuppressed anymore.

I do have a few rifles with a flash hider (3 prong that pings) if you want to hear or experience what it sounds like. But those are mainly 14.5” pinned for 16” OAL.

What percentage will you be shooting suppressed? If you shoot suppressed more, than a muzzle break is the way to go.

I'll probably be shooting suppressed as much as possible. Sounds like muzzle break is the way to go. Thanks all.

I’m a fan of the griffin minimalist muzzle devices.

That's tiny, but I'm pretty sure I'm stuck with proprietary devices.

Brake will also help reduce erosion.

I pulled off all my FH and put Brakes on all my rifles for my AAC based cans. For my DIY, I used the griffin.

Go with a brake for sure.
